Reading BEAT Support and Recovery group Ground Rules

The following are ground rules for the Reading BEAT Support and Recovery Group and should be adhered to at all times. Facilitators will remind attendees of these rules if required.

1. Focus on recovery.

2. No sharing of "tips" that undermine recovery.

3. Trust, openness and honesty.

4. Punctuality.

5. Confidentiality.

6. Respect for others ideals and experiences.

7. No mention of others appearance, whatsoever.

8. No mention of numbers - calories, weight etc.

9. No attendance under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

10. Right to opt out.

11. It is all right to disagree with ideas but not to personalise it.

12. Try not to talk over people.

13. “Take a breathe” – ensure others have a chance to talk.

14. Avoid 1 to 1 dialogue and handing out advice in group discussions. Share how you feel and what worked for you but remember it might be different for somebody else.

15. Carers’ group to focus on providing support for carers.
