Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Breakfast is served from 8:25-8:45 am daily. Please have your child here at

8:25 if you plan for your child to eat breakfast here at school. They will

enter the school at Door #15 off of Pershing. Please be aware that if your

child comes to school at 8:45 or later we will not be able to provide

him/her breakfast. The expectation is for all students NOT eating breakfast to

come to school and go to the gym at 8:40 am. They will enter Door #14 off of

Pershing. Please do not drop off your child before 8:40! There is no adult

supervision until 8:40! Please remember school hours have changed this

year. School hours are 8:50 am¡ª4:10 pm.

Parents we hope the holiday and new year has been a wonderful time for you

and your student. As we start this second semester, there could possibly be

some changes to how your student enters the building. In order to utilize our

school day more effectively, we are looking at ways we can modify the daily

schedule for our students. This may look like no morning community in the

gym and students entering the building at the same door they dismiss

from¡.We haven¡¯t worked out all of the logistics, but we will be sure to

communicate specific changes once they are solidified.

Have you noticed your student wanting to do Dreambox at home? We want

students spending more time at home on this math intervention

program. Dreambox is a great program that helps students grasp math skills

that they still need to master. It will also challenge students and move them

along at their skill level.

If you do not have access to the internet at home, don¡¯t forget Wichita Public

Schools has a partnership with Cox Communications. You can get internet at

a discounted rate. Call Cox Communications for more information.

Thank you for your continued support of Jefferson Elementary!

Students are expected to dress appropriately for the

weather. We will not be keeping kids in from recess because

parents want them inside due to cold weather. We abide by

the district¡¯s weather chart when determining if we should go

outside in cold or hot weather. Unless there is a documented

medical reason from a doctor for why a student cannot go

outside for recess, we will be sending them out. Please
