Coronavirus symptoms are similar to those experienced during a respiratory illness, including fever, cough, congestion, difficulty breathing and muscle aches. The virus can also lead to more severe diseases, including pneumonia, especially in individuals with suppressed immune systems or other underlying conditions. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms OR you have come into contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, OR you have traveled through a heavily impacted area in the last 14 days, call the Cummins Response Center at 1-866-685-4313 (inside the US) or +1 4432214877 (outside the US). You may also utilize the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if you would like personal assistance.??How is Cummins supporting local communities??The impact to Cummins’ communities during COVID-19 has been swift and devastating. Cummins has worked quickly to respond with resources, addressing needs for the most vulnerable working families, including childcare, food insecurity and remote learning assistance (such as wireless access). Many of our employees and partners have jumped in to help, like a partnership with our canteen supplier in Daventry, UK, who are using the Cummins canteen to preparing packed lunches and hot meals for kids as a result of local school closings. As innovative problem solvers, several Cummins’ engineers and technicians are lending their expertise to assist with relief efforts and projects. RETURN TO WORK FOR OFFICE EMPLOYEESWhat criteria does Cummins use to determine if it’s safe to return to the office???The Cummins Risk Team uses several tools to inform its assessment of COVID-19 risk levels and associated decision-making. They work with the appropriate government and health officials and internal health and security teams to determine risk levels on a site-by-site case. Based on these risk levels, respective operating procedures follow.???How does Cummins leadership determine if it’s safe to open offices???When considering re-opening an office site, Cummins takes four factors into consideration: safety, community, prioritization and demand/supply. We also work with the appropriate government and health officials and internal health and security teams to determine risk levels on a site-by-site case. The number of employees on a site at any one time will be limited to continue to slow the spread of the virus.???What measures are Cummins taking to ensure offices are safe??When we do return to offices there will be new protocols in place regarding health and safety. These will be based on the latest medical and safety guidance available at the time. You should expect to undergo a site entry screening before you come into the workplace, including a temperature scan. There will be social distancing measures in place and face covering requirements. You will also notice enhanced cleaning protocols. While this will be difficult, we need to do this to make the workplace safe for everyone. These measures may change over time as the risk level changes.??How much notice will I get before I have to report back to the office??Cummins is committed to giving as much notice as possible. The exact number of days' notice will vary based on local considerations, but our intent is to provide ample notice.???What will happen in September if I am instructed to return to work in a Cummins office, but my home life does not accommodate this (e.g., schools are closed, and I don't have childcare; I need elder care but this is not yet available; or some other logistical challenge)??We understand there are many unknowns for employees regarding school and childcare this fall. We will ensure that employees have as much notice as possible before being asked to return to the office so appropriate arrangements can be made. If an employee is still not able to return to work in a Cummins facility, the employee will need to work with their manager and human resources to determine what accommodations may be available.???If an employee has a preference to work from home or they don’t feel comfortable going back to the office, will they be required to go back to the office when it is open, or can they continue working from home??Cummins is reviewing its remote-working policies and processes, and we will communicate these broadly to employees when they are available. If an employee has specific questions or issues now, please discuss this with your manager.???When will we know if the return-to-work date will be in September, or if it will be later than that???It’s hard to say right now what the date will be. For now, and because employees need some certainty for planning purposes, we have decided that it will not be before September for most office employees. We will give as much notice as possible before asking employees to return to the office.??Will all employees in Phase 3 at a site return at one time or will we return to work in shifts??Employees in Phase 3 are those who can continue to work remotely with minimal impact on productivity. Given the social distancing requirements we have put in place and expect to remain for the foreseeable future, it is not likely that everyone will be in the office at the same time.???I don't work in Southern Indiana - can I assume that I will also return to?work in September???For office employees outside of Indiana, the same approach will apply – that is, you will hear from your site leader when it is time to return to work. We are using the same process to re-open office buildings as we used to re-open manufacturing sites. Our Cummins Facilities team, in close collaboration with regional leaders, will approve the re-opening of office sites globally.??????I consider myself an employee in Phase 1. Is there a formal process that I must follow or will I be informed that I can return to the office???Employees who are in Phase 1 are those who must be on-site to do their roles and are critical to site operations. When can I come back to the office??In Indiana, we are beginning the work now to identify those individuals or teams who need periodic access to a facility. You should expect to hear from your site leaders soon. Please do not come into the office until you are contacted.??May I meet with my work colleagues to perform work outside of a Cummins facility? No. You may not meet with work colleagues to perform work outside of a Cummins facility unless your assigned worksite is outside of a Cummins facility or you have obtained pre-approval from your manager. We need to ensure the work environment is safe, and we are best positioned to do this in a Cummins facility, where we have implemented screening, PPE and social distancing protocols. If you are currently assigned to work remotely and need to meet with a colleague in-person to perform work, please contact your manager or your site’s facility leader about accessing a Cummins facility. If you need access to a facility in Indiana, please reach out to the Cummins’ Security Operations Center. This guidance also applies to meetings with interns, contingent workers, or other third-party workers who support Cummins’ business. This guidance is not intended to prevent Cummins employees from participating in personal meetings or social gatherings with work colleagues where Cummins work is not being performed. ?If I am an employee in Phase 3 but want to come to the office, what is the process??Employees in Phase 3 are those who can continue to work remotely with minimal impact on productivity. For now, we are asking employees who fall in Phase 3 to continue to work from home.???Do I need to bring my own mask when I return to the office??If you are required to work in a Cummins facility, Cummins will provide masks and cloth face coverings for all required uses. If you have more questions about face coverings, please refer to our?mask and face covering guidance.???I’ve heard that all office employees may be requested to remove all items from their work desks.?Am I expected to clean my work area(s) when I return? Am I expected to bring my own box or will packing materials be provided??In all facilities, assigned personnel are cleaning horizontal surfaces and common touchpoints. You can expect that all employees will be asked to adhere to more rigorous standards for housekeeping. We will be asking employees to clean off their desks and the tops of lockers so thorough cleaning can be completed.?Any personal items should be stored in lockers or drawers. If you have additional questions about our cleaning policies, please refer to the Safe Work Playbook. If you need supplies to effectively declutter your area, please reach out to your facilities leader.??How are decisions for employees to return to work being made outside the state of Indiana? Are regional leaders leveraging decision-making tools to determine which buildings to open and who will be accessing them???See response above. Our Risk Team uses several tools to inform its assessment of COVID-19 risk levels and associated decision-making. Regardless of where in the world our facility is?located, we work with the appropriate government and health officials and internal health and security teams to determine risk levels on a site-by-site case. Based on these risk levels, sites are then categorized,?and respective operating procedures follow.???Why can’t all buildings be opened if social distancing considerations and PPE are in place???By significantly decreasing the number of employees in some of our facilities, we?can?redirect attention and resources to key operations?such as?manufacturing?facilities, technical sites and service branches.???Stay-at-home orders have been lifted in my area and I am socializing with friends and family, how is that any different than returning to work??We recognize that our approach to re-opening may not be the same as what may be happening in our communities. Regional guidelines are only one of the inputs we use when making decisions about re-opening facilities. In addition, each of you may choose how you want to engage outside of work, and those choices may be different than what others might make. Our responsibility is to make our working environments as safe as we can for everyone.WORKING REMOTELYPlease refer to the working from home toolkit for ergonomic guidance, when to connect to VPN, how to host virtual meetings and more. The Windows 10 Mandatory upgrade has been suspended for all regions. For now, we do not reimburse employees who are temporarily working remotely for items like desks, chairs, keyboard and monitors absent a local legal requirement. If you have health and safety issues, please contact your manager so that we can assess your needs and determine what accommodations should can be made. We will communicate more soon.??If my connectivity at my remote work site is bad, will Cummins pay for better?internet?access???Generally, no. In some parts of the world this has been a challenge and we have worked with individuals to help improve connectivity. Please talk to your manager if you are having this challenge.???Are additional technology solutions being considered to help with remote working collaboration???Cummins offers a host of digital collaboration tools such as Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc., and encourages everyone to use our?Help Community?to find training and learn more. Additionally, there may be tax consequences should the employee work from anywhere other than their primary residence. HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORKAm I at risk for novel COVID-19 infection from a package or products shipping from highly impacted areas? According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is still a lot that is unknown about the newly emerged 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it spreads. Two other coronaviruses have emerged previously to cause severe illness in people (MERS and SARS).?COVID-19 is more genetically related to SARS than MERS, but both are?betacoronaviruses?with their origins in bats. While we don’t know for sure that this virus will behave the same way as SARS and MERS, we can use the information from?both of these?earlier coronaviruses to guide us. In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of?COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19?in the United States associated with imported goods. Information will be provided on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus website as it becomes available.?Are there guidelines to use the mask properly? Please do the following to help prevent the spread of illness:?When sick, employees should stay home or go home.?Avoid close contact with people who are sick.?Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.?Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.?Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.??What are symptoms for COVID-19? Symptoms are?similar to?those experienced during a respiratory illness, including fever, cough, congestion, difficulty breathing and muscle aches. The virus can also lead to more severe diseases, including pneumonia, especially in individuals with suppressed immune systems or other underlying conditions.??What should you do if you think you have been exposed? A wellness check will be conducted to ensure any additional questions or concerns you have?are?addressed.?Avoid contact with others.?Do not go to work or travel.?TRAVELWhat should you do if you or your family have upcoming travel??DO NOT travel if you are currently sick.?Refer to the?Cummins Travel Restrictions folder?for all current travel restrictions?Follow the recommendations outlined above for how to stay healthy.?Avoid contact with sick people, crowds and any animals.?Be aware that older adults, children and individuals with chronic health conditions may be at increased risk for severe disease from the coronavirus and should discuss travel with their healthcare provider prior to departure.?What travel restrictions are in place?
