I installed the Norton Security (NS) suite and have been having a problem with the Norton Personal Firewall. If I disable it and re-enable the Windows Firewall everything works just fine. However, when I reboot no firewall is enabled and I have to re-enable the Windows Firewall manually. Symantec’s support said that the Windows Firewall is disabled because the Norton Personal Firewall is the primary firewall and a system shouldn’t have two firewalls providing real-time protection at the same time, but they can’t tell me how to reset it even though it was NS that changed this setting. The OEM vendor of the computer couldn’t care less, and I can’t get any help from Microsoft because my copy of Windows is an OEM product supported only by the vendor. I have thought about reinstalling Windows 8.1, but, before I take this drastic step, is there any solution to the problem?
