Remote Learning Partner Free Professional Development ...

Remote Learning Partner Free Professional Development – August 28, 2020On August 4, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education DESE sent districts information about opportunities to work with remote learning partners Edgenuity and FLVS Global who can provide a learning management system with K-12 course content (“Option 5”). DESE is pleased to announce free professional development for Massachusetts educators in districts that have chosen to partner with Edgenuity and FLVS Global to support remote learning for their students and families. The trainings are concentrated in September, but also extend into October and the rest of the school year to provide additional flexibility and support. The professional development includes live synchronous “boot camp” trainings to get your educators (both administrators and teachers) up and running, additional live trainings and licenses for asynchronous support for best practices in online/remote education, and opportunities for customized support for each participating district. Dates and Times for Live Virtual TrainingsPlease see the attachments from Edgenuity and FLVS Global for the specific dates and times for the initial set of trainings. Additional information will also be posted at InformationRegistration information for Edgenuity trainings will be available online at on Monday, August 31.FLVS Global will be sending registration links for trainings by Monday, August 31 directly to the primary and technical contacts of districts who have executed contracts to partner with them.Eligibility InformationPlease note, in order for your district’s educators to be prioritized to register for these training and licenses, you must have an executed contract/purchase order with Edgenuity or FLVS Global, and ideally have already established educator accounts in order to maximize the utility of these trainings. Districts may also directly purchase additional professional development, which is a separate cost from student licenses. See the top of page 4 of the Remote Learning Partner Information document for pricing information. Also, links to recordings and presentation slides for the district leader orientations held by both partners on August 21 can be found below.Key InformationEdgenuityFLVS GlobalWebsite do I contact for more information?Greg MooreAccount Executive774-238-0945 greg.moore@Jennifer SlaterAccount Manager484-614-7624jslater@District Leader Orientation Recordings and Presentation SlidesDate: Aug 21, 2020 01:54 PMEdgenuity District Leader Orientation Recording Link; Password: W=j%7a8SEdgenuity District Leader Orientation Presentation Slides LinkDate: Aug 21, 2020 09:52 AM FLVS Global District Leader Orientation Recording Link; Password: k6sD$1U1 FLVS Global District Leader Orientation Presentation SlidesWho at DESE do I contact with questions?Cliff Chuang, Senior Associate Commissioner cliff.chuang@, 781-605-5573In addition, please note that beginning on September 2nd, DESE’s Center for Instructional Support will release the Remote Teaching & Learning Modules Series. This is a free, 5-part series of self-guided modules for teachers and other school-based educators who will be engaging in remote teaching and learning this coming year, whether through a hybrid or fully remote model. Each module includes specific instructional practices, tips, and strategies for remote teaching in key areas such as Curriculum & Planning, Learning Environment, Family Collaboration, and Professional Collaboration. Educators will also have the opportunity to dig deeper into content-specific strategies aligned to MA curriculum frameworks, reflect on culturally responsive practice, and explore digital tools and resources supportive of both live and asynchronous instruction. While DESE’s Remote Teaching & Learning Modules trainings will also be beneficial for educators who will be using the Edgenuity and FLVS Global platforms to support remote learning, these modules are designed to be useful whether or not a district or school uses any particular platform. In particular, Module 2: Curriculum & Planning may be less relevant for teachers supporting implementation of the established curricula in the Edgenuity or FLVS Global platforms. Each module includes a learning and exploration section, followed by recommended reflection activities and applications to a teacher’s specific school and classroom. If possible, we encourage educators to experience the modules in pairs or teams to maximize collective knowledge and take-aways. If educators are in different locations, they may complete the online portion of each module separately and come together via a platform such as Zoom or Google Meets to engage in the Reflect/Apply activities collaboratively. ................
