FADE IN:

GINA ANDREWS’S bloody corpse. It lies in a field. It MORPHS into ANDRE JEANNOT. Then he MORPHS in the ANDROGYNE, who is the half-man, half-woman creature.

A HAWK AND DOVE FLYING IN THE AIR

They flap their wings. The hawk screeches while the dove coos. Then they MORPH into HAWKINS and DOVER respectively.

HAWKINS

If you think I’m going to feel guilty about killing the man . . . woman who started this, you’ve got another think coming, Sybil.

SYBIL (V.O.)

The Androgyne could have performed some other deadly experiments. Perhaps the Zodiac Killers aren’t the only monsters that he/she created in Grand Junction.

Have you ever thought of that scenario, Mr. Hawkins?

Hawkins and Dover look at each other. They obviously did not think of that possibility.

HAWKINS

Uh, no. I didn’t.

INT. SYBIL’S MANSION/LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

SYBIL is seated on the sofa. Bonbons and an illustration are on the coffee table. Sybil looks into the Delphi Crystal in her hand. The crystal shows the SUPERIMPOSED IMAGES of Hawkins and Dover flying. Sybil bites down a bonbon in frustration.

SYBIL

That is why I must interrogate the monsters thoroughly before we execute them. I must explore

SYBIL (CONT’D)

all possibilities. Who knows

what kind of creatures are still

running loose?

She bites into another bonbon.

DOVER

Relax, Sybil. If there are other monsters on the loose, you’ll find them with the crystal.

Sybil glares into the crystal.

SYBIL

As quickly as I found you two?

RESUME HAWKINS AND DOVER IN THE AIR

They look at each other. Hawkins becomes very angry. Dover is also upset.

DOVER We don’t need to be reminded of that day, Sybil.

SYBIL (V.O.)

You were fortunate to find the Androgyne based solely on my illustration. You know the Delphi Crystal only grants me glimpses of the future.

FLASHBACK – EARLIER THAT NIGHT

Sybil sits on the sofa as she illustrates the portraits. Their SUPERIMPOSED IMAGES appear in the crystal. Hawkins and Dover are seated next to her on the chairs.

DOVER

Who are they?

SYBIL

I do not know, Miss Dover.

Obviously they are people that

SYBIL (CONT’D)

you both shall be locating

tonight. Perhaps one of them is a Zodiac Killer who is

married to the other one.

HAWKINS

We never found a female Zodiac Killer before.

SYBIL

There shall always be a first time.

DOVER Could they be the Androgyne?

You know. His and her different genders?

SYBIL

Usually an alchemist has male and female characteristics in

one body. But perhaps there is one who can change genders.

HAWKINS

(grimaces)

Either way . . . gross.

Sybil stops drawing. She shows it to the heroes.

SYBIL

Can you locate them, Mr. Hawkins?

Hawkins closes his eyes and puts his fingers to his temples.

HAWKINS

I can locate him. He’s in a

house just outside of Clifton.

I can’t find her though.

SYBIL

Since you cannot locate the

woman, I believe that means this Androgyne can change genders.

Hawkins shudders as he opens his eyes.

HAWKINS

That man is sleeping in his

bedroom.

SYBIL

Keep looking around his house. Does he have a laboratory in there?

Hawkins closes his eyes and puts his fingers to his temples.

The SUPERIMPOSED IMAGE of a laboratory appears in the scene.

HAWKINS

He does. It’s in the basement.

The superimposed image disappears. Hawkins opens his eyes.

SYBIL

Then we have found the alchemist.

Perfect. We shall pack up the laboratory once you both have taken care of the menace.

DOVER I’ll make him leave the door open after I turn him into my love slave.

Dover stands up. She motions for Hawkins to do the same. He does.

DOVER (CONT’D)

No time like the present.

They head for the sliding glass door. She opens it, and she and he exit. He closes the door behind him.

EXT. THE MANSION/SLIDING GLASS DOOR – NIGHT

The hawk and dove appear on the back porch. They fly away.

HAWKINS (V.O.)

Follow me.

DOVER (V.O.)

I always do.

HAWKINS AND DOVER IN FLIGHT

Hawkins smites his forehead.

HAWKINS

Can we get inside his house now?

His front door might have locked

itself after he ran outside.

DOVER

Oh, you’re right. And his body won’t have a key on it.

SYBIL (V.O.)

I kept the Androgyne under

surveillance after Miss Dover

attempted to mesmerize him/her.

The front door is not locked.

We still shall take away the

laboratory.

DOVER

Good. And maybe the Androgyne kept records of his . . . and her other experiments in the basement. That will let us know if there are other monsters running around.

HAWKINS

Good thinking, Debra. I might be able to locate them by looking at his notes.

SYBIL (V.O.)

I shall rent a moving van in the morning. We shall move the laboratory equipment late tomorrow night. When the next-door neighbors are asleep.

HAWKINS

And if they’re not, Debra can mesmerize them into not seeing

the van.

DOVER

(frowns)

I don’t like using my power on innocent people, Harry.

SYBIL (V.O.)

It may not be helped, Miss Dover. We cannot afford to have witnesses to our . . .

DOVER

Theft?

Hawkins sighs.

SYBIL (V.O.)

Removal of hazardous materials.

(a beat)

Now hurry home. I shall expose you both to the crystal’s healing powers. You shall need all your strength for tomorrow night’s chore.

HAWKINS

Just be sure to expose yourself to the crystal’s powers as well,

Sybil.

DOVER

Yeah. We’re not going to be your accomplices by ourselves.

INT. SYBIL’S MANSION/BASEMENT - NIGHT

Sybil and the heroes are exposed to the blinding light that is shining from the crystal in Sybil’s hands. The heroes moan and stretch. They enjoy the experience. Then the crystal stops shining its light.

HAWKINS

I’ll never get over how that feels.

DOVER Same here. Especially since our lives now depend on the crystal’s power.

HAWKINS

Don’t remind me.

FLASHBACKS

INT. A HOTEL SUITE - DAY

Sybil is dressed in a simple pants suit as she sits at the desk. The crystal shows the SUPERIMPOSED IMAGE of

A HANDWRITTEN NOTE

It is written in a lady’s handwriting. It reads: FIND THE HAWK AND DOVE IN GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO

RESUME SYBIL

She takes out some hotel stationary and starts writing. She is writing the same note that she has just foreseen.

SYBIL

I guess I’m flying to Grand

Junction today.

A PRIVATE AIRPLANE

It flies through the air.

INT. THE SMALL AIRPLANE – DAY

Sybil is seated behind the PILOT. She reads another note. She looks at it in puzzlement.

THE NOTE

It reads: CAPRICORN SHALL BE THE FIRST ZODIAC KILLER

PILOT

Our ETA is about thirty minutes,

Miss Crystal.

SYBIL

Not too bad of a delay. Good.

PILOT

The weather is always iffy over the Rocky Mountains. Sorry about that.

SYBIL

There is no need to apologize, my young man. As long as I arrive in Grand Junction today, every- thing shall be all right.

(a beat)

Eventually.

The pilot gives her a puzzled look.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

Eyes on the clouds, sir.

The pilot looks back out the windshield.

INT. THE CHURCH OF GRAND JUNCTION – NIGHT

The sign outside reads: BINGO EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT

PEOPLE are leaving the church and head for their cars.

HARRY and DEBRA are Hawkins and Dover’s previous identities.

Harry is an overweight slob, and Debra is the mousy type who wears glasses. They head for their cars near an alleyway.

Out of the alleyway comes a LITTLE BOY. He is very upset.

LITTLE BOY

Mister. Lady. My kitten is lost. Can you help me find him?

I think he’s somewhere in here.

(points to alleyway)

Please help me find him.

DEBRA

Of course we’ll help you find your kitten.

HARRY

Yeah. What makes you think he’s in there?

LITTLE BOY

I thought I heard him meowing in there.

The trio heads for the alleyway. Debra addresses the Little Boy.

DEBRA

My name’s Debra. What’s yours?

LITTLE BOY

Boyd.

HARRY

I’m Harry.

They enter the alleyway.

INT. A FANCY CAR – NIGHT

Sybil drives the car. She stops at a red light. A lamp post lights up the car. Sybil picks up an illustration and looks at it.

THE ILLUSTRATION

It shows the Little Boy’s face next to the KILLER’S face. Their faces look similar to each other. At the bottom of the page is some writing. It reads: THE CHILD HOOD

INT. THE ALLEYWAY – NIGHT

Debra and Harry have their backs to the Little Boy while they check behind crates and garbage cans. The Little Boy MORPHS into the KILLER, his adult self. The Little Boy’s clothes grow along with the Killer’s body. The Killer pulls out a silencer from his pocket.

KILLER

Hand over your wallet and purse.

The others turn around.

DEBRA

Oh, my God!

HARRY

Where did you come from?

DEBRA

Where’s Boyd?

The Killer gestures with the gun.

KILLER

Your wallet and purse. Now.

And don’t try anything funny.

Debra extends her purse. Harry pulls out his wallet.

KILLER

Debra, take his wallet and put it in your purse. Makes it easier for me to carry them both.

DEBRA

Yes, sir!

Harry hands her the wallet. She puts it in her purse.

KILLER

Now hand the strap to me.

She puts the purse out with its strap facing the Killer.

KILLER (CONT’D)

Makes it easier for me to take it.

He takes it. Then he motions for them to line up against a wall. Debra and Harry head for the wall. The Killer follows them.

KILLER (CONT’D)

Now count to a hundred, and I’ll get the hell out of here. But don’t look at me.

DEBRA

We won’t, sir!

KILLER

Start counting.

DEBRA AND HARRY

One. Two. Three.

The Killer shoots them four times. They groan as they fall against the wall. The Killer puts his silencer back in his pants pocket. Then he MORPHS into the Little Boy, who quickly walks out of the alleyway with the purse.

EXT. THE CROSSROAD – NIGHT

Sybil’s car is parked at the red light. The Little Boy is walking with the green light. He carries the purse.

SYBIL’S POV

She sees the Little Boy in her windshield. Then she holds up the illustration.

SYBIL (V.O.)

That’s him!

The Little Boy walks away.

SYBIL (V.O. CONT’D)

A boy carrying a purse?

EXT. THE ALLEYWAY – NIGHT

Sybil is walking down the street. She is carrying her purse while she looks for something important.

SYBIL (V.O.)

He came from this way. Perhaps he stole that purse from . . .

She reacts to GROANING coming from the alleyway. Sybil runs into it.

HARRY AND DEBRA

They lie on their sides near the wall. Blood comes out of their backs. Sybil walks into the scene. She gapes in horror.

SYBIL

By the gods!

HARRY

(weakly)

Help . . . me. Help . . . us.

DEBRA Please.

Sybil takes out some vials from her purse, which she drops.

THE VIALS IN HER HAND

One is marked “HAWK,” and the other is marked “DOVE.” Both of them are filled with blood.

SYBIL

She looks down at the fallen pair.

SYBIL

What are your names?

HARRY

Our . . . names?

SYBIL

Hurry! You do not have much time! It is important for your survival!

DEBRA

Debra . . . Dover.

HARRY

Harry . . . Hawkins.

SYBIL

Destiny is calling. Again.

Sybil opens the hawk vial and pours it into Hawkins’s mouth. Then she opens the dove vial and pours it into Dover’s mouth.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

Drink it down. Both of you.

Sybil retrieves her purse. She takes the crystal out of it. She aims it at the pair. Then it shines beams at them.

HARRY

He loses weight and becomes more muscular. As he loses his beard, he MORPHS into Hawkins.

DEBRA

She becomes more buff. Her greasy hair becomes lovely, and she MORPHS into Dover.

SYBIL AND THE HEROES

She helps them stand up by pulling on their arms.

DOVER

What’s going on?

HAWKINS

I don’t feel like I was shot!

SYBIL

That is because you both have recovered from your wounds.

Observe the bullets that came out of your bodies.

They look at the ground, where four bloody bullets are. The heroes react.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

When I healed your bodies, the bullets were forced out of them.

HAWKINS

But how did you heal us? Are you a witch?

SYBIL

I am more of a prophetess, Mr. Hawkins. I am Sybil Crystal. I

used the Delphi Crystal to heal

you both.

DOVER

The Delphi Crystal?

SYBIL

It was used by the oracles in Ancient Greece for centuries.

Now it belongs to me.

HAWKINS

Wait. You also put something in my mouth.

DOVER

And mine.

(horrified)

It tasted like blood!

SYBIL

It was.

HAWKINS AND DOVER

What?

SYBIL

Mr. Hawkins drank the blood of a hawk. And Miss Dover drank the blood of a dove. It was most necessary in order for my spell to work. Now your bodies have become their most perfect forms.

HAWKINS

It’s true! I’m thin again!

SYBIL

And you no longer require the use of your glasses, Miss Dover. You not only possess perfect

vision, but you both possess night vision.

Dover takes off her glasses. She reacts to what she sees.

DOVER

She’s right! This is amazing!

SYBIL

You both shall need night vision in your missions.

HAWKINS

Missions? What missions?

SYBIL

You shall be locating supernatural villains, Mr. Hawkins. And you shall be neutralizing those villains, Miss Dover. By using your hawk and dove powers.

DOVER

Hawk and dove powers?

SYBIL

You both possess the ability to fly. Thanks be to your anti- gravity energy fields. These same fields shall allow you to lift heavy objects.

HAWKINS

Whoa! We can fly?

As if on cue, they both start to hover. The heroes scream.

SYBIL

And fortunately for us, no one heard you both scream. Because

your voices now sound like a

SYBIL (CONT’D)

hawk’s screeching and a dove’s cooing. You look and sound like those birds to mere mortals now.

HAWKINS

You’re kidding!

DOVER

We’re flying around like she said we would, and you think she’s kidding?

SYBIL

Look at your shadows if you don’t believe me.

They do. Their shadows look like those cast by birds.

HAWKINS

Whoa!

SYBIL

That is to prevent the mortals from seeing flying people in town. That would cause a panic.

DOVER

I see what you mean! Now how do we get down?

SYBIL

Just will yourself to descend, Miss Dover. But be sure to do it very slowly. Otherwise, you both shall hit the ground.

Hawkins and Dover slowly descend and land. Sybil approaches them.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

As for your other powers, Mr. Hawkins is like a psychic bird of prey. He can locate criminals

with his psychic visions.

HAWKINS

I can?

SYBIL

Yes.

Sybil retrieves her purse from the ground and opens it.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

Were both of you shot by either one of these people?

Sybil takes out the illustration from her purse. She shows the illustration to them.

HAWKINS

That’s Boyd!

DOVER

And that’s the guy who shot us!

SYBIL

I have reason to believe that they are the same person.

DOVER

What makes you say that?

SYBIL

Because Capricorn is the first Zodiac Killer to appear in Grand Junction.

Capricorn is the sign of the goat. And a young goat is known as a kid.

I believe the Capricorn Zodiac Killer has the ability to change himself into a child.

DOVER

That would explain how the killer appeared out of nowhere.

SYBIL

Now I saw the little boy carrying a purse. Yours, I presume, Miss Dover.

DOVER

(dryly)

Yes.

HAWKINS

But why wouldn’t he dump it someplace? That looks too conspicuous!

DOVER

He’s probably going to my

apartment later on to rob it.

SYBIL

Or he may be going to Mr. Hawkins’s home. Now the only way to be sure is for Mr. Hawkins to have a psychic vision.

Sybil holds up the illustration to Hawkins’s face.

SYBIL (CONT’D)

Now concentrate on their faces. Then close your eyes and visualize where they are.

Hawkins looks at the illustration. Then he closes his eyes.

HAWKINS

I see the Killer! He’s driving a beat-up Chevy! He’s heading down North Avenue! He might be going to Wal-Mart! It’s the only

place that’s open!

DOVER

(bitterly)

Most likely he’s going to use our

credit cards!

SYBIL

Good. You both shall appear at Wal-Mart and subdue him with

Miss Dover’s love spell.

DOVER

How do I that?

SYBIL

Oh, that is so simple. Here is what you shall do and say.

EXT. WAL-MART PARKING LOT – NIGHT

The Killer stands by his car. Hawkins and Dover stand in front of him. Dover points to the Killer, who is mesmerized.

DOVER

You love me. You now see and hear the real me.

KILLER

Yes. You are so beautiful.

DOVER

You need to drive us to Sybil’s hotel room.

KILLER

Yes, dear.

HAWKINS

He can drive you, Debra!

DOVER

Don’t tell him my name!

HAWKINS

Sorry! But I’m flying back to Sybil’s hotel room! I love being able to fly!

DOVER

(sighs)

All right. You fly, and he will drive me.

(to the Killer)

But you keep your hands to yourself!

The killer nods his head.

KILLER

Yes, sweetheart.

INT. SYBIL’S HOTEL ROOM – NIGHT

It is a rather ordinary one. She is seated on the chair while the mesmerized Killer sits on the bed. The heroes stand to the side. The silencer is on the table by Sybil.

SYBIL

Are you a Capricorn, Mr.

Boyd?

KILLER

Yes.

SYBIL

So you do have the ability to transform into a child?

KILLER

Yes. Should I show you?

SYBIL

No. When did you gain this ability?

KILLER

When I drank the Capricorn Elixir.

SYBIL

The Capricorn Elixir? What is that?

KILLER

It was a drink being sold at the Mesa Mall. A girl was selling them from a display case.

SYBIL

Was she selling only this Capricorn Elixir? Or were there others?

KILLER

Oh, she was selling other Zodiac Elixirs. That’s what she called them.

SYBIL

She sold you the Capricorn Elixir because you were a Capricorn?

KILLER

Yeah.

SYBIL

Did she know that you were a Capricorn without you telling her?

KILLER

No, I told her. It came out while we were flirting with each other.

SYBIL

So was she selling the Virgo Elixirs to Virgos, the Libra Elixirs to Libras, and so on?

KILLER

Yeah. I think so. I’m not really sure.

SYBIL

Why did you shoot those two people tonight?

KILLER

Because I could.

Hawkins approaches the Killer. Dover pulls Hawkins back. Sybil gestures for Hawkins to remain still.

KILLER

Since I could change into the Child Hood, I decided to use

him to run away from crime

KILLER (CONT’D)

scenes. He was the perfect alibi.

SYBIL

When did you buy the Capricorn Elixir?

KILLER

Yesterday afternoon.

DOVER

That girl may still be selling the Elixirs.

HAWKINS

The mall’s closed now. We can check tomorrow.

DOVER

One more question. What were you doing with m--that purse?

KILLER

I was going to use it to get inside the girl’s house.

DOVER You were going to use her keys?

KILLER Only if nobody else lived in her place. Otherwise, I was going to pretend that I had found the purse and was returning it.

DOVER

And that woman’s roommates?

KILLER Yeah.

SYBIL (giggles) And here I thought you might become a transvestite.

Hawkins and Dover give her a look. Then they look at the Killer.

HAWKINS

So what do we do about him?

HAWKINS AND THE KILLER

Hawkins holds him by the armpits. They fly high up in the air over the desert. The killer screams.

HAWKINS

Yell all you want! You just sound like a hawk while I got a hold on you!

Hawkins lets go of the Killer. He plummets to his death.

INT. SYBIL’S HOTEL ROOM – NIGHT

Sybil sits at the desk. Dover sits on the bed.

DOVER

There was no other way?

SYBIL

There are no prisons to hold the future Zodiac Killers,

Miss Dover.

DOVER

I don’t know if I can do this.

SYBIL

You have no choice. The monsters must be stopped.

(a beat, reluctantly)

Besides, I need to expose both of you to the Delphi Crystal’s healing powers every week.

DOVER You do? Why?

Sybil looks at the crystal set on the table.

SYBIL

The magical forces in your bodies shall eventually destroy them without the Delphi Crystal’s stabilizing power.

DOVER

Oh, my God! Why didn’t you tell us that before?

SYBIL

Because you already had to process much information. I could not present it to you all at once.

(a beat, calmer)

Do not worry, Miss Dover. Once we have defeated the Zodiac

Killers, you and Mr. Hawkins can return to your old lives.

DOVER

Our old lives? We can’t do

this in our spare time?

SYBIL

Not unless you want the criminal element in Grand Junction to remain active.
