Creation Overview

Creation Overview(Genesis 1-2:3)Earth: This incredible planet we live on was created by God. No one else but God could have created such an amazing home for us. He made the world function with weather. He provided places for us to live, ways for food to grow, and He brought order to our world so that we could live in it.Here is how it happened …In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a shapeless, chaotic mass, with the Spirit of God hovering over it. Then God said, “Let there be light.” And light appeared. And God was pleased with it and divided the light from the darkness. He called the light “day,” and the darkness “night.” Together, they formed the first day. Then God said, “Let’s create sky and separate water from water.” So God made the sky, and He separated the water under sky from the water above sky.He named the sky the “heavens.” And that was the end of the second day. Then God said, “Let the water beneath the sky be gathered into oceans so that dry land will appear.” God named the dry land “earth,” and the water “seas.” Then He said, “Let the earth burst forth with every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant, and fruit trees with seeds inside the fruit, so that these seeds will produce the same kind of plants and fruits they came from.” And that was day three. On the fourth day, God said, “Let bright lights appear in the sky to give light to the earth and to identify the day and the night; these will bring about the seasons on the earth, and mark the days and years.” So God had made two huge lights, the sun and moon, to shine down upon the earth — the larger one, the sun, to watch over the day and the smaller one, the moon, to watch over the night; and He also made the stars. On the fifth day, God said, “Let the waters abound with fish and other life, and let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” And just as God had spoken, it happened. Great sea animals came to life, and every sort of fish and every kind of bird. And God looked at them and said “Multiply and fill the oceans.” On the sixth day, God said, “Let the earth bring forth every kind of animal — cattle and reptiles and wildlife of every kind.” And so it was. God made all sorts of wild animals and cattle and reptiles. Then God said: “Let us make human beings in our image, and reflecting our nature. They can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and all the earth. So God created human beings, reflecting God’s nature and His image. He created them male and female. God blessed them and said, “Prosper! Multiply! Fill the earth! And take care of it and each other.God looked over everything He had made and saw it was very, very good because it worked just right. Finally, on the seventh day, God rested from all His work. And He blessed the seventh day and made it holy. ................
