Get involved in Romantic Relationship research directed by Dr. Candice Feiring

I’m looking for several motivated students to become Research Assistants in the newly created Romantic Relationships Lab.

Research topics include:

1) The development of a reliable and valid narrative coding system for assessing the balance of power in romantic relationships

2) Individual differences in cognitive representations of power in romantic relationships

3) The role of positive and negative emotions in healthy romantic relationships

4) Romantic relationship dating aggression and issues of gender

Research assistant duties include:

1) Training to conduct structured interviews about relationships qualities

2) Training to transcribe interviews

3) Training in narrative coding and analyses

4) Conducting interviews (data collection)

5) Developing reliable and valid narrative coding systems

6) Transcribing and Coding interviews

7) Helping to plan new research protocols

8) Training to manage an ongoing research project

9) Learning/conducting data analyses

10) Learning to communicate research through written and oral presentations.

11) Conducting library research on various topics, such narrative analysis, dating aggression, power, anger and rejections sensitivity in adolescent romantic relationships

Prerequisites:  PSY 121 and permission from the instructor required, PSY 299 preferred.
