Information to Teach Students before using Technology ToolsProper Log-on Procedures9525-635000When logging onto computers, students and teachers must always use their own username and password only.For security purposes students are required to create or reset an 8 characters or longer unique password. Students should not share their password with anyone else. All students must log in with their own individual student number and password.The first time every student logs on, it is best if they are connected to a hardwired computer, such as a desktop machine. Student directions for setting new passwords:Enter student ID for the username and Student1 for the passwordThe following message will appear: You are required to change your password.Enter a new password and confirm the new password by entering it again. Important Note: 8 character minimum with a combination of lower case, upper case and a number or special character. The password cannot include the student's first or last name or their complete ID number and must be different from their previous 10 passwords.If a student is having trouble logging on, check the following:Did they type the Student ID number incorrectly?Are their extra spaces before or after the student ID number?Is caps lock on inadvertently?Teachers may NEVER log on for students.
