1. Overview

This document covers only single-user Personal Oracle 8 systems that will run Relius Administration 7.0 or later. For other types of installations, call Support at 1-800-326-7235, Option 3, to obtain the correct documentation.

New clients will install Relius Administration for the first time. Existing clients’ databases must already be upgraded to Relius Administration 7.0 or greater before proceeding.

The installation of Personal Oracle 8 and Relius Administration 7.0 involve the following basic procedures:

1) Read and understand the entire document. Section 2 (Installation and Environment Considerations) and Section 3 (Pre-Installation Procedures) are notably important.

2) Install Personal Oracle 8.

3) Install Relius Administration 7.0 and all components.

4) Import and upgrade the database.

5) Install Relius Administration 7.0 Service Pack.

6) License the workstation.

7) Configure Crystal Reports 8.5.

2. Installation and Environment Considerations

1. Most Important: Upgrade vs. New Installation

Although Windows 98 is supported for now, clients are urged to install Personal Oracle 8i to Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP. When deciding whether to upgrade their operating systems, clients should consider the various ramifications that are inherent with upgrades. Specifically, many programs do not function correctly – and sometimes completely fail – after an operating system is upgraded. See Appendix C for more details.

SunGard Corbel has conducted extensive testing of upgrading operating systems from versions earlier than Windows 2000/XP. Consequently, SunGard Corbel has concluded that installing Personal Oracle 8i to a “fresh” operating system is the most successful and preferred method. This is a common industry practice, and it is usually preferred on systems running databases and mission-critical applications. Microsoft’s web site also recommends this installation method when possible. Clearly stated, if a new PC with its new, original operating system cannot be purchased, clients should back up their systems, export their database to a drive other than their main C: drive, format the C: drive, install Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP to a clean drive (with at least 5 GB of free space), and then begin this installation.

Clients must back up and export their systems before installing the Operating System, as a newly installed Operating System may cause the database engine to fail.

2. Program File Location

Personal Oracle 8 must be installed to the local C: drive in the \Oracle\Ora81 directory. Additionally, Relius Administration 7.0 installs program files to C:\Program Files\Relius\Administration. SunGard Corbel strongly recommends using the defaults. Relius Administration cannot be installed to a network.

3. Installation Methods

Personal Oracle 8 and Relius Administration are only available on CD-ROM. A local CD-ROM drive is recommended and supported. Each workstation will require access to a local CD-ROM drive. Other methods of installing (network volumes, “push” or “ghost” technology, Z.E.N. Works, Zip Drives, etc.) are not supported or recommended.

If a remote, shared CD-ROM drive is used to install the software, it must be mapped with a drive letter assigned. Running the Relius Administration 7.0 SETUP.EXE from a CD-ROM accessed by browsing with Network Neighborhood will fail.

4. Level-One Systems

Level-One Systems do not include Crystal Reports. The use of custom Crystal Reports is prohibited on Level-One Systems. However, in order to run Report Writer Reports provided with Relius Administration, the Crystal Report Writer will still need to be installed.

5. Software fixes and documents via Internet

Fixes and support files are distributed via the web at . Users must have Internet capability to receive these fixes. Visit our web site and click “subscribe” () to receive notification of new fixes by e-mail. SunGard Corbel does not send patches and updates through the mail, and we strongly urge all users to subscribe to this service. Updated documents can be obtained at .

6. Virus Scanners

Some virus scanners are incompatible with the installation program. If these programs are active, they can interfere with successful installation. Symptoms include an error message stating that a file cannot be overwritten (such as RICHED20.DLL or RICHED32.DLL). Disable them by right clicking on the icons (in the system tray on the right side of the taskbar) and choosing Exit before starting the installer. Virus Scanning Services may need to be temporarily stopped and set to manual as well.

7. Windows 2000 Professional Considerations

Responsibility for support of problems and issues related to Relius Administration 7.0 running in a locked-down security configuration is that of the end user. Certain circumstances may require billing on a time and material basis. SunGard Corbel cannot guarantee that Relius Administration 7.0 will install or operate properly on any given locked-down security configuration. Relius Administration 7.0 is certified and supported only when run on the default Windows 2000 security settings.

The Windows 2000 Administrator (or a user with equivalent Administrator rights) must run the installation.

8. Supported Operating Systems

Only the operating systems listed below are supported. All others are not supported.

• Windows 98 Second Edition (See Step 2.9, below)

• Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2 or greater

• Windows XP Professional or Home Edition

9. Windows 98 Considerations

Installation of Personal Oracle 8i on Windows 98 is intended for existing clients migrating from Personal Oracle 7. New clients should not install Personal Oracle 8i on Windows 98, and existing clients should plan to upgrade their Windows 98 workstation to Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP as quickly as possible. For more information, please see the Product Lifecycle Guidelines on Microsoft’s web site ().

10. Hardware and Software Requirements

All hardware requirements are specified in Appendix A of this document.

• Windows 98 Second Edition must have all valid updates and Y2K patches.

• Windows 2000 Pro with Service Pack 2 or later.

• Windows XP Professional or Home Edition with most recent Microsoft Updates

• Appropriate printer driver (HP LaserJet III or greater).

• Minimum video resolution of 800 x 600 with 256 colors.

3 Pre-Installation Procedures

1. This installation is valid for the versions of Windows listed in Section 2. All references to “Windows,” unless otherwise noted, are also valid for those operating systems.

2. Run Scandisk or CHKDSK to check the integrity of your hard drive and have any problems resolved before installing this release.

3. Be sure no screen saver will become active during the installation. SunGard Corbel discourages the use of screen savers whenever running Personal Oracle 8, Relius Administration, or the Installer.

4. The installer installs many of its support files in the “System” directory, normally C:\WINNT\SYSTEM or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.

5. The installation process takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete.

6. Review the system requirements located in Appendix A. Do not proceed with the upgrade if your environment does not meet the minimum system requirements.

7. Remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder. Additionally, programs that are set to launch when Windows is started can also be specified in C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI (or C:\WINNT\WIN.INI). Please edit this file using Notepad. Temporarily remark the entries RUN= and LOAD= by placing a semi-colon (“;”) in front of the line (if programs are specified), then Save and Exit the WIN.INI file. Example of remark:

;RUN=EXAMPLE.EXE

8. Re-start the computer. Windows or other programs may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the upgrade process.

9. Temporarily disable all virus protection.

4 Installing Personal Oracle 8

Note: This installation uses two CDs. The first CD is the “Relius Administration 7.0 Personal Oracle 8” CD, used for creating the Oracle database structure. The second CD is the “Relius Administration 7.0” CD, used for installing Relius Administration and its required components. Note: There are two unique, operating system-specific Personal Oracle 8i CDs. Make certain you use the proper CD for your environment.

1. Insert the “Relius Administration 7.0 Personal Oracle 8” CD into your CD-ROM drive.

2. From the Windows desktop, click on Start, then Run and type D:\Setup in the command box, substituting D: with the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive, then click OK.

7. Windows 98 users will see the message below informing them of the need to eventually upgrade to Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP. Click OK.

[pic]

8. If Personal Oracle 7 already exists and it is running, you may encounter the message below. Click OK.

[pic]

9. If Personal Oracle 7 already exists, you will be prompted to copy the contents of your ORAWIN95\EXPORTS directory to C:\QTTEMP to safeguard your data. This is the default directory where exports are stored if users invoked the “Export Database” shortcut provided by SunGard Corbel. Click Yes. Copying may take some time, depending on the size and number of your export files.

[pic]

[pic]

10. If Personal Oracle 7 already exists, you will be prompted to archive your ORAWIN95\DATABASE directory to a Zip file in QTTEMP. Click Yes. This step takes quite some time, depending on the amount of data in your database, but it is strongly encouraged.

[pic]

[pic]

11. If Personal Oracle 7 already exists, a “DOS” window will appear, stopping the MSDTC service. This is required before deleting the ORAWIN95 directory. When it is finished, it will close automatically and begin deleting the ORAWIN95 directory.

[pic]

[pic]

12. The Personal Oracle 8 installation program will then launch automatically.

[pic]

13. Under “Destination…” be sure the Name is OraHome81 and the Path is C:\Oracle\Ora81. Click Next to continue.

[pic]

14. The Product Information will begin loading. This will take several minutes. Be patient and do not interrupt the process.

[pic]

15. A flood bar will appear at the top of the Oracle Installer screen. Do not click any buttons or interrupt the process.

[pic]

16. The Oracle Installer will begin copying files. This process is quite lengthy, and will take several minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the process or close the window.

[pic]

17. When the files have finished copying, the Net8 Configuration Assistant will automatically launch. In Windows 2000 Pro, this screen may be hidden behind the main Oracle installation screen. Check your taskbar for a flashing icon and click it. Be sure “Perform typical configuration” is checked and click Next to continue.

[pic]

18. Your Oracle database will now be created. In Windows 2000 Pro, this screen may be hidden behind the Relius Administration installation screen. Check your taskbar for a flashing icon and click it. Click OK and do not interrupt the process. It will take several minutes.

[pic]

[pic]

19. When the setup is complete, you will see the screen below. Click “Yes I want to restart my computer now.” Click Finish.

[pic]

20. The installation program will re-boot the workstation.

21. Proceed to Section 5, Importing Your Database.

5 Importing Your Database

As currently configured, your Oracle 8i database is vacant. Your data must be imported before proceeding. Only one type of import must be performed, either the empty database import, or the existing data. If installing Relius Administration for the first time (no previous data), ignore Step 9.3. If upgrading from Personal Oracle 7, ignore Step 9.2.

1. Open a Windows Command Prompt.

2. New Installations: Type IMP708ALL . An “all dump,” an empty shell of a database that contains only the database tables and necessary data to start Relius Administration for the first time, will then import. Allow the import to complete.

3. Upgrades From Personal Oracle 7: Type IMP-MYDB . You will be prompted for the name of your database export file. Under default settings, the file was previously exported to C:\ORAWIN95\EXPORTS and has an extension of either .DMP or .EXP. If you answered “Yes” during Step 4.8, the file will now be contained in C:\QTTEMP. For example, C:\QTTEMP\QTSAEXP.DMP . If you exported/copied to another location or to another file name, your individual settings will vary. Make certain that this file is your most recent export. You should see numerous errors flash on the screen before importing the tables and data. This is acceptable, pending review of the log. Allow the import to complete.

[pic]

4. When finished, your old “rollback segments” will be dropped, giving way to the new ones created by the Personal Oracle 8i Installation, and a utility called “reset user” will be run. When finished, you will see a command prompt. Type EXIT .

[pic] [pic]

6 Installing Relius Administration 7.0

Even though Relius Administration may have been previously installed, SunGard Corbel recommends a complete reinstallation. Some Steps outlined in this Section may vary, depending on whether your system is being upgraded from Relius Administration 7.x on Personal Oracle 7.

1. If not done already, remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder.

2. Be sure you have re-started the computer. Windows or other programs (especially the previous installation process) may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the upgrade process.

3. Temporarily disable all virus protection.

4. Insert the “Relius Administration 7.0” CD into your CD-ROM drive. After a brief graphic introduction, the Installation Menu should start automatically. Start by clicking Begin Complete Installation. You must run the “complete” installation the first time on each workstation. Clicking Install Individual Component will allow users to re-install programs that were corrupted, not installed during the main installation, or deleted. This is for troubleshooting purposes. For more information, please contact Technology Support.

[pic]

5. If the Installation menu does not start, click Start, then Run and type D:\Setup, substituting D: with the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive, then click OK.

[pic]

[pic]

6. If your video resolution is less than 800 x 600, you will receive the message shown below. The installation can continue, but you will need to adjust your resolution before launching Relius Administration.

[pic]

7. Some systems may need an upgraded version of Windows Installer before continuing. Click OK as prompted and do not interrupt the process. The system will re-boot when finished and resume the installation. Do not remove the CD from your CD-ROM drive.

[pic]

[pic]

[pic]

8. The Relius Administration 7.0 Setup “Welcome” screen appears. Please note that all open programs need to be closed at this time. Click Next to continue.

[pic]

9. The Select Installation Type screen appears. Click StandAlone. Important note: You must choose the correct type of installation. If you choose Workstation, Relius Administration will not launch. The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall.

[pic]

10. You will be prompted to enter your Client ID. Please type in your Client ID and click Next to continue.

[pic]

11. The Choose Destination Location screen will appear. SunGard Corbel strongly recommends the default location, C:\Program Files\Relius\Administration. Click Next to continue.

[pic]

12. The Select Program Folder screen will appear. Depending on the user, the icons may be placed in a folder other than the default, Relius. Keep the default or select the Program Folder in which you would like the icons to appear and click Next to continue. (For the convenience of many users, icons will also be copied to the main “start” menu and the desktop.)

[pic]

13. The installation will then copy and register the new Relius Administration 7.0 files.

[pic]

14. You may encounter the message below or one stating a similar read-only file has been detected. This occurs as some report files were originally installed as read-only on the workstation. Check the “Don’t display…” option and click Yes to continue.

[pic]

7 Installing MDAC, SQL Server 2000, and XML Parser

This Section covers the installation of several components provided by Microsoft. These components are necessary for Relius Administration to run properly. Do not skip or interrupt this Section. You may be asked to reinstall some components that may have been previously installed. Because systems will vary, SunGard Corbel recommends answering “Yes” if prompted to reinstall.

1. MDAC will install in the background. Do not interrupt this process, as it takes some time to finish.

[pic]

[pic]

2. Next, SQL Server 2000 will install in the background. The time it reports for completion can be misleading. Be patient and let it continue. Do not interrupt the process, as it takes some time to finish.

[pic]

[pic]

[pic]

3. You may see the screen below (or one similar to it), informing you that a particular component has already been installed. There is usually no harm in reinstalling, but it is not necessary.

[pic]

4. You may see the screen below for a few seconds. The Setup program for XML Parser is running. Do not interrupt.

[pic]

8 Installing Crystal Reports 8.5

1. The Crystal Reports Installation will start automatically.

[pic]

2. The Crystal Reports installation will run without user intervention. The time it reports for completion can be misleading. Do not interrupt.

[pic]

[pic]

3. Windows 98: After re-booting, Crystal Reports will need to configure. This is normal. Do not interrupt the process. Until prompted to re-boot, do not re-boot manually. Continue with Section 8. The system will not re-boot at this time.

4. Windows 2000 and Windows XP: Crystal Reports will need to configure before rebooting. This is normal. Do not interrupt the process. Until prompted to re-boot, do not re-boot manually. Continue with Section 8. The system will not re-boot at this time.

9 Final Installation Steps

1. You will be prompted to keep the CD in the CD-ROM drive before the system re-boots the computer. Do not remove the CD. This is essential for Crystal Reports to complete its installation. The system may take some time to begin the re-booting process while it finishes copying Crystal Reports.

[pic]

2. The final screen will look like the one below. Be sure “Yes, I want to restart my computer now” is chosen and click Finish. Your workstation will shut down all applications and restart. Do not interrupt the process.

[pic]

3. Windows 98: Once you log back on, the operating system will take several minutes to configure new settings before it is ready to run. Please be patient and do not interrupt the process or reboot. You may see the screen below. Crystal Reports is completing its configuration. Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP workstations will log on and launch the operating system without interruption. This is normal.

[pic]

4. After logging on, if action was taken in Section 3, restore the icons or shortcuts that were temporarily removed from the StartUp group or folder and remove the remark from the RUN= and LOAD= statements from WIN.INI.

Attention Windows 98 Users!

5. After completing the above steps you must open a Command Prompt (MS-DOS prompt) and type 98DBFIX . This step is only required on Windows 98 workstations. If you do not run this step, your database will fail to start.

[pic]

10 Installing Service Packs and Release Updates

The content and scope of Service Pack releases has been enhanced with Relius Administration 7.0. In addition to program files that have been traditionally distributed, scripts for modifying your Oracle database structure are now included. The Service Pack will detect if the scripts need to be run and will automatically execute them if necessary. As a system administrator, you should be aware that required changes are now being made to your database when applying the service pack for the first time. These modifications require that all users be out of the Relius Administration application and, depending upon content, may take considerable time to run. You should be certain that you have a current and restorable backup of your database before installing the Service Pack. The Service Pack must be applied to each workstation. Your database must be started to apply the Service Pack. If the database instance is not running, execution of the Service Pack should invoke the database instance to start. If your database does not automatically start, please start it manually by clicking Start | Programs | Relius | Administration | Start Database.

1. The most recent Releases and Service Packs are available at the SunGard Corbel FTP site at .

2. To install the Release or Service Pack, double-click the file and follow the on-screen prompts. All users will need to be out of the databases when running the scripts that will update the database.

|[pic] |[pic] |

3. When all the scripts are completely run, the Release or Service Pack will install and register the updated program files. A text file may appear on your screen, describing the changes. For future reference, the file resides in C:\Program Files\Relius\Admin, and carries the same name as the Service Pack with a .TXT extension. More details can be obtained from our web site.

11 Licensing the Workstation

1. If licensing was not installed, you will receive the message shown below. Start Relius Administration and sign on as the System Administrator (the default password is PNG).

[pic]

2. From the main Menu, click Utilities | System Administration | Administrator Update.

3. Insert the “Relius Administration 7.0 Key Disk” into your 3.5” floppy disk drive (A: or B:).

4. From the System Administration menu, click Licensing | Install Licensing | A Drive (or B Drive).

5. Enter the six-character code as it appears on the “Licensing Setup Sheet.” This code is case sensitive. Enter the code exactly as shown.

6. If prompted, select whether you are licensing as a single-user workstation or a multi-user workstation.

7. When the “Licensing Installed OK” message appears, click OK.

8. New users will need to create a “normal” user in the Relius Administration Database. The System Administrator cannot conduct plan administration. From within the System Administration window, click the second tab, System Users. Insert your information in the fields and click Add. For more information, press the key for help.

9. To verify proper licensing, you should exit Relius Administration and sign on as a normal user. You should have the following seven (7) menu options above the Toolbar: File, View, Data Entry, Processing, Reporting, Utilities, and Help. If you only see File, View, Utilities, and Help and you are logged on as a user (not System Administrator), you may have an invalid license. Attempt to sign on as a different user if possible. If the problem still occurs, please call Support at 1-800-326-7235, option 3.

[pic]

12 Configuring Crystal 8.5

1. Start Relius Administration and log on as a user other than System Administrator. Click Reporting | Crystal Report Designer. This process must be repeated at each workstation.

2. You will now be presented with the Crystal Reports Registration Wizard. Click Next. Choose the option, “I already have a registration number…” then enter the registration number 6089606239 and click “Finish.”

[pic]

3. You should see the screen below. Click OK to continue.

[pic]

4. When the “Welcome” screen appears, click Cancel. You can disable it in the future by removing the check from “Show welcome dialog at startup.”

[pic]

5. From the main Crystal menu, click File | Log On/Off Server. The Data Explorer screen will appear. Expand the “tree” of options to ODBC, and then click on CROR7. If you do not see CROR7 in the list of available ODBC options, please see Appendix B for instructions on creating this data source.

[pic]

6. At the Logon to Oracle screen, type in the User Name of QT, the Password of QT, and ensure that the Server Name is QTO. Click OK.

[pic]

7. You should then see a list of tables within your Oracle database. If you do not, please call Support. Click Close.

[pic]

8. You are now ready to create your custom Crystal reports.

13 Database Maintenance

Although maintenance and integrity of data is the responsibility of the client, SunGard Corbel has listed several items that clients should consider when maintaining their Relius Administration systems. We have created shortcuts for starting, stopping, and exporting your database. These shortcuts have been tested in a default environment. Other considerations such as disk space, drive mappings, and individual settings may alter the performance of these shortcuts. SunGard Corbel encourages rigorous testing as soon as possible.

[pic]

1. In Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP, the database starts as a “service” within the Operating System. In Windows 98, the database should start the first time it is “called” (i.e., when launching Relius Administration for the first time). To manually start the database, click Start | Programs | Relius | Admin | Start Database. You will see some screens below that will display the progress of the database starting and mounting.

[pic]

2. When the database has fully started, you will see an icon in the system tray (shown below).

[pic]

3. The database automatically stops when the Operating System shuts down. To manually stop the database, click Start | Programs | Relius | Admin | Stop Database. You will see some screens below that will display the progress of the database starting and mounting. When finished, the icon in the system tray will vanish. Note: Shutting down the database while Relius Administration is running can damage your data. Shut down all Relius Administration programs and all related components (i.e., Crystal Report Writer).

4. To export your database, click Start | Programs | Relius | Admin | Export Database. This will launch a “DOS” window, exporting your database to a single “dump” file. By default the file is C:\Oracle\Ora81\Exports\QTSAEXP.DMP. This file will be overwritten each time an export is run, so you must rename the file to prevent overwriting. SunGard Corbel urges copying this export to another form of removable media, such as a tape backup, recordable CD, ZIP drive, etc.

[pic]

5. Clearing Temporary and Report Tables should be conducted once a week, or more often if heavy reporting is in progress. From the main menu of Relius Administration, click Utilities | System Administration | Temporary Table Maintenance. You must be logged on as the System Administrator within Relius Administration (not as a regular user).

Appendix A System Requirements

For more information, please see the Product Lifecycle Guidelines on Microsoft’s web site ().

Note: Windows must be installed on the local C: drive of the workstation. Operation of Relius Administration with Windows run from a local hard drive other than C: or run from a network drive is not supported. In all cases, Windows must be run from C:\WINNT or C:\Windows.

Printers

Most Windows compatible laser printers will work. SunGard Corbel highly recommends the Hewlett Packard LaserJet Series III printers or newer. These printers are fully supported by Windows, Novell, and most all other software available on the market. For plans with large numbers of participants you will need to consider printer duty cycle, print speed, turnaround times, etc.

Appendix B Configuring ODBC

If you do not see CROR7 as an available data source when logging on to Crystal Reports, you will need to manually create it.

B.1 Open Control Panel and double click the ODBC Data Source Administrator. The actual name of the icon in Control Panel may vary, depending on your operating system and its configuration. From within the ODBC Administrator, click the “System DSN” tab, and then click Add.

[pic]

B.2 Click “CR Oracle7.” Then, click Finish. Do not choose any other driver, as Relius Administration reports are only supported on the CR Oracle 7 driver.

[pic]

Appendix C Operating System Upgrade Considerations

The most successful and fully supported method of upgrading the operating system involves the following steps:

• Export Database to a location other than the local C: drive

• Back up the entire system

• Copy/move any pertinent data not related to Relius Administration

• Format C: Drive and install new operating system (Windows 2000 Professional or XP)

• Install other necessary components (e-mail, office applications, etc.), including service packs or updates to operating system

• Install Personal Oracle 8i and import database that has been copied in the first step

• Install Relius Administration 7.0 and Release Updates and Service Packs

As stated in Section 2, SunGard Corbel conducted extensive testing of upgraded operating systems to prepare for Personal Oracle 8i. While the upgrade process may appear to proceed properly, it will not correctly configure Relius Administration in the new environment. Some features of Relius Administration or its related components may not work on an upgraded operating system. After installing Personal Oracle 8i and importing your database, you must reinstall MSDE and MDAC.

C.1 Microsoft SQL Data Engine – MSDE 2000 will fail after the operating system has been upgraded (see sample below). Windows 98 does not use “services” the same way Windows 2000 or Windows XP do. Insert the Relius Administration 7.0 CD and click Install Individual Component, and then click MSDE 2000.

[pic]

C.2 Microsoft Data Access Components – MDAC 2.6 will be overwritten during the upgrade of your operating system. Its failure will be evident when you try to launch Relius Administration (see sample below). Insert the Relius Administration 7.0 CD and click Install Individual Component, and then click MDAC 2.6 SP1.
