Resistor Color Code Chart

Resistor Tolerance (%)

| |Black = 0 |

| |Brown = 1 |

| |Red = 2 |

| |Orange = 3 |

| |Yellow = 4 |

| |Green = 5 |

| |Blue = 6 |

| |Violet = 7 |

| |Grey = 8 |

| |White = 9 |

| |Gold = +/- 5% of indicated value |

| |Silver = +/- 10% of indicated value |

Example: 4.7kΩ, with a 5% tolerance

The first band is the first number (i.e., 4)

The second band is the second number (i.e., 7)

The third band is the number of 0’s (i.e., 2 zeros)

So, 472 means 4700Ω, or 4.7kΩ and the actual resistance value can vary +/- 5% from 4.7kΩ
