Your cable termination pouch includes these tools: a. Cat6 RJ45 Strain Relief Connectors (10 clear, 10 white) b. Cable Jacket Stripper c. Side-Cutting Pliers d. Electrician's Scissors e. RJ45 Connectors (20) f. Modular Plug Crimp Tool g. Cable Tester h. Mapping Remotes (5)

2

Prepare the Cable 1

When using a strain relief connector, slide it on the cable before adding the RJ45 connector.

Begin with one end of the Ethernet cable.

2

Place the blade of the cable jacket

stripper approximately 40 mm (1.5

inches) from the end of the cable

(approximately the width of two jacket

strippers placed side by side). Twist the

jacket stripper around the outer jacket of

the cable to cut it. Pull off the piece of

the jacket you just cut.

Using the side-cutting pliers, clip the

3

ripcord and center spline as close to

where you cut the outer jacket as

possible. If you accidentally expose any

of the copper inside a wire's insulator

coating, cut off the end of the cable and

start again.

3

Untwist each pair of wires.

4

Pro Tip: Use the piece of the outer jacket you removed to untwist each pair.

Straighten each wire using the outside of

5

the electrician's scissors.

Pro Tip: You can also use the side of a screwdriver or straight edge.

4

Arrange and Trim the Wires

Arrange the wires following the T-568B

6

standard, working from left to right:

Cut the tips of the wires to an even

7

length.

Your RJ-45 connector comes with two parts:

a. Connector b. Load Bar

5

Hold the load bar with the angled lip

9

facing up. Pinch the wires near the end

and feed them through the load bar. Push

the load bar as far as you can down the

wires toward the cable jacket.

Using the side cutting pliers, cut the wires

10

flush with the end of the load bar.

6

Insert Wires into the RJ45 Connector

With the RJ45 connector tab facing away

11

from you, and the orange wires on the

left, insert the load bar all the way into

the connector.

Verify the cable jacket is inside the

12

connector and the wires are positioned

over the pins.

When using strain relief connectors, slide

13

the relief connector inside the RJ45

connector before crimping. The strain

relief connector tab is designed to fit over

the RJ45 tab.

7

Crimp 14

15

Insert the connector into the 8P slot of the crimp tool until the connector is properly seated. Note: When using strain relief connector, verify the tab is also inserted into the 8P slot.

Squeeze the handle to compress the copper pins and wires together.

Terminate the Other End of the Cable

Repeat steps 1-15 for the other end of the

16

cable.
