Annual Catholic Appeal

As of today, $50,997 has been raised by St Joseph Parish for the Annual Catholic Appeal. This is a wonderful testimony to how all of you stepped up to the plate to support this year's ACA. That amount represents about 92% of our parish goal of $55,346. However, it only represents the participation of 23% of our families. Fr Brian has challenged ALL the families of the parish to participate--no matter how small the donation. Thank you for what you have done so far. Let's keep it going! If you have not already done so, please consider making a pledge or donation to the ACA. Remember that any amount contributed over and above our parish goal of $55,346 comes back to the parish. Thank you!!

Christmas Craft Bazaar & Bake Sale

The Community Outreach Circle of the Women's Guild will be holding our annual Christmas Craft Bazaar and Bake Sale again this year. This event serves as our only fundraiser for the year. The Bazaar will be held on December 14th and 15th.

We need your handcrafted items and baked goods for the sale. More details will be provided over the coming weeks but now is the time to start crafting, if you haven't already!

Thank you to Leslie Field for agreeing to head up the committee that will be planning and running the Bazaar and Bake Sale. If you are interested in joining their committee, they could use your help. You may contact Leslie at tfield@ or (209) 985-7825 or the parish office with any questions.

Essential Oils Class

Essential Oils are considered the "life blood" of plants and trees. These aromatic oils have great healing abilities and are literally "essential" to the protection and healing of your body and mind. Come find out more about the history and uses of Essential Oils. Enjoy some of

the fragrances Deb Kitt (Dr Mom) will make available and learn how to make some inexpensive healing gifts for family and friends.

If you would like to make an essential oil bath salt, bring a decorative glass jar filled with 1 cup of Epsom salts. Deb will provide the essential oils for a small fee of $2 per jar of bath salts.

Saturday, November 23rd from 10:00 AM until noon.

Let us know if you plan to attend. Hope to see you there. If you have questions, please call Deb at 303-668-8891.

Wisdomworks for Seniors

Our Wisdomworks gathering on Monday, October 28th will center on All Saints Day. We will honor the power of a faith tradition that calls us to recognize those who have gone before us and those who are in our midst as witnesses of God's life in us.

Wisdomworks begins at 10:00 AM. There is no charge for the session. There will be refreshments served. If you would like to bring something to contribute to the feast, please feel free to do so. See you then!!

Religious Education

We recognize that the sacraments have a visible and invisible realty, a reality open to all the human senses but grasped in

its God-given depths with the eyes of faith. When parents hug their children, for example, the visible reality we see is the hug. The invisible reality the hug conveys is love. We cannot "see" the love the hug expresses, though sometimes we can see its nurturing effect in the child.

The visible reality we see in the sacraments is their outward expression, the form they take, and the way in which they are administered and received. The invisible reality we cannot "see" is God's grace, his gracious initiative in redeeming us through the death and Resurrection of his Son. His initiative is called grace because it is the free and loving gift by which he offers people a share and shows us his favor and will for our salvation. Our response to the grace of God's initiative is itself a grace or gift from God by which we can imitate Christ in our daily lives.

Registration for Religious Education remains open through November. If you have questions please contact Kathy Catron in the parish office.

Youth Ministry

All Youth (Grades 6-12) are invited to attend the North Side Youth Ministry meetings on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM at St Charles Parish located at 4515 N Alberta St.

High School Youth from St Joseph Parish will gather on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM for a time of homework, praying together, and socializing.

Meaningful Volunteer Opportunity North County Food Pantry

Due to the retirement of the current dedicated long-time directors, the Food Pantry is seeking two retired couples who have a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of people who are in need. The placement of two couples as codirectors will provide continuity of operations while allowing significant time off for travel or other personal activities. With the help of a team of volunteers, the North County Food Pantry provides food monthly to over 300 hunger families in north Spokane County. The co-directors plan, organize and direct operations of the Food Pantry and coordinate volunteers who serve this organization. Call Denny Beier (509999-5652) or send an email to director2019@ to learn more about this unique opportunity.

Sacristans Needed

We are in need of Sacristans--especially for the 5:30 PM Mass on Saturday evenings and the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday mornings. The duties of the Sacristan include preparing and maintaining all the necessary items for the liturgical celebration. Sacristans ensure that Father has what he needs for Mass and also make certain that the church itself is prepared. Sacristans also make sure that all the required personnel (Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers) are on hand and ready to go.

If you have an interest in serving as Sacristan please contact Dave Gay (509-821-2474) for further information.
