ECE/RCTE/CONF/4/Add

Revised proposal for draft amendments to Rule No. 2 on uniform provisions for periodical technical inspections of wheeled vehicles with regard their roadworthiness

The text reproduced below was prepared by the Informal Working Group on Periodical Technical Inspections according to item 9 of the Terms of Reference and WP.29 decision made at its the 165-th session. It is based on ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2013/133 prepared by the representatives of the Russian Federation and of the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee (CITA) to harmonize the provisions of Rule No. 2 with those of the latest Regulations annexed to the 1958 Agreement and the European Union (EU) Directives The modifications to the current text of Rule No. 1 (ECE/RCTE/CONF/4/Add.1/Rev.1/Corr.1) are marked in bold for new and in strikethrough for deleted characters.

PROPOSALS

Item 3 of the Annex to ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2013/133 amend to read:

3. Contents and methods of testing; assessment of deficiencies of vehicles

The test shall cover at least the items, and use the minimum standards and the recommended methods, listed in the following table.

For each vehicle system and component subject to testing, the assessment of deficiencies shall be carried out in accordance with the criteria set out in that table, on a case-by-case basis. Deficiencies not listed in this annex shall be assessed in terms of the risks that they pose to road safety.
