MENTORSHIP
• Trainees I’ve directly supervised now include nine tenured/tenure-track professors, seven research assistant professors in a medical school setting, and multiple postdoctoral fellows at high-impact university positions.
• I developed and directed the Social Science Grant Writing Initiative at Maryland for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty resulting in multiple federally funded grants and fellowships from NIH, NSF, and the Ford Foundation which has supported Maryland’s ranking as #2 nationally in federal funding for social sciences research while I served as Associate Dean.
• I have served as mentor for 15+ individual NIH and NSF Training Grants and I served as founding director of an NIH-funded institutional training program with ~15 trainees.
• I have served as the direct mentor for > 50 undergraduates in successful matriculation to graduate programs in clinical psychology, medicine, social work, and law. Clinical psychology placements include Yale, UNC, UCLA, Emory, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, SMU, Maryland, Missouri, South Carolina, George Washington, Florida State, Kentucky, Illinois-Chicago, Mississippi, Memphis, George Mason, and Arizona State.
