Objective:
To open young minds to the beauty and wonder of mathematics. To foster logical but creative thinking skills. To assist students in achieving an individual and unique identity.
Educational Philosophy:
A school curriculum should include a common body of knowledge encompassing mathematics, science, language arts, social studies and computer literacy that all students should master. Beyond that core body of knowledge, students should be exposed to the broadest possible subject matter so they can discover a subject to be passionate about. Schools should prepare students for analyzing and solving the social problems they will face beyond the classroom. Schools, above all, should develop students’ abilities to think deeply, analytically and creatively. The great ideas of our common history and culture were proposed by people who thought logically, analytically and creatively. The teacher’s main goal is to help students unlock the insights and wisdom learned over time while guiding them to new insights and new wisdom. Effective teachers help students to discover and develop their personal values, even when those values conflict with traditional ones. Students should be active participants in the learning process, proposing their own questions and developing processes for exploring those questions. Mathematics education is a constructive process in which students should be encouraged to discover their own unique subjective mathematical knowledge that will enable them to adapt to many mathematical situations.
