Education Foundation Will Hold 3rd Annual Pride of RPS: Living Legacies Breakfast

The Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation (RPSEF) will hold its annual Pride of RPS: Living Legacies Breakfast on April 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at The Jefferson Hotel, 101 West Main Street. The event will honor the outstanding achievements of eight Richmond Public Schools alumni who are leading extraordinary, honorable lives as inspirational leaders.

This year's honorees are: Dr. Lisa Edwards Burrs, lyric-coloratura soprano, Associate Professor of Music at Virginia State University and graduate of Huguenot HS; Dr. Jamelle D. Foster, physical therapist and graduate of Richmond Community HS; attorney Darien C. Grant, Regional Project Executive for Turner Construction Company and graduate of Marshall-Walker HS; Capt. Dianne T. McRae, retired veterinarian for the U.S. Public Health Services & Veterinary Corps and graduate of Maggie L. Walker HS; General J.H. Binford Peay III, Superintendent of the Virginia Military Institute and graduate of Thomas Jefferson HS; Mary Lee Copeland, founder and Executive Creative Director of The (next level) Storytelling Academy and graduate of Open HS; Dr. Laverne Beard Spurlock, former RPS Director of Guidance Services and graduate of Armstrong HS; and attorney Julious P. Smith, chairman emeritus at WilliamsMullen and graduate of Thomas Jefferson HS.
