USA SHOOTING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
ATHLETE PERSONAL PERFORMANCE GEAR
1. ISSF regulation shot-shell ammunition: Different manufacturers have slightly different components within the ISSF standard. Various brands and loads shoot and feel different to the athlete resulting in personal preference thus creating the need to include this item on the list.
2. ISSF regulation smallbore and airgun ammunition (.22 and .177): Smallbore ammunition of different manufacturers has varying specifications and levels of quality control which make it shoot better in some barrels than in others. An athlete’s rifle or pistol may shoot one brand of ammunition very well but not another. In rifle, the technical aspect of matching ammunition batch lots with the gun is very important to optimize accuracy.
3. ISSF regulation competitive rifles (air and smallbore): Various manufacturers have slightly different mechanics as well as dimensions in stock design and balance. These variations fit different body styles better making the rifle a definite piece of performance equipment.
4. ISSF regulation competitive pistols (air and smallbore): Same as for rifle. Different grip styles between manufacturers fit different athletes better.
5. ISSF regulation competitive shotguns: Same as for rifle.
6. ISSF regulation competitive shooting jackets, rifle: Rifle shooting jackets are constructed of various materials and design methods. They are custom made for the elite individual athlete and must be broken in before equipment control.
7. ISSF regulation competitive shooting pants, rifle: Same as for shooting jackets.
8. ISSF regulation competitive shooting vest, shotgun: Same as for shooting jackets
9. ISSF regulation competitive shooting boots, rifle: Different manufacturers have slightly different sizing, configuration and features. This affects athlete stability and comfort.
10. ISSF regulation competitive shooting shoes, pistol (competition wear only): Same as for rifle shooting boots.
11. Shooting boots/shoes, shotgun (competition wear only): Same as for rifle shooting boots.

13. ISSF regulation competitive shooting sling, rifle: Manufacturer variations in design and materials affect preference, fit and comfort.
14. Shooting glasses (competition wear only): Manufacturer variations affect fit, preference and athlete body style needs.
15. ISSF regulation competitive hat/cap/visor (competition wear only): Fit, comfort, shooting style of the athlete requires different styles of headgear.
16. Inclement weather clothing, shotgun (competition wear only): Cold weather and rain gear must be able to fit under the shotgun vest as well as allow the shooter to complete the movements necessary to mount the gun. Differences in body style require this item to be on this list.
17. Hearing protection: Various head positions, fit, and athlete comfort.
