|For this book report you will create a time-line in the shape of a road map. The road map will show important events from a particular person’s |

|life covered in your book, in sequential, chronological, order. |

PART ONE: GRAPHIC ORGANIZER 1

Read a biography or autobiography book that is about a specific inventor, entrepreneur, someone who started a business, etc. As you read your book, take notes on graphic organizer 1.

➢ Include major events that took place, important dates, pertinent people, and details.

PART TWO: GRAPHIC ORGANIZER 2

On graphic organizer 2, put the events from graphic organizer 1 into sequential, chronological, order.

➢ Write two complete sentences for each event, using your information from graphic organizer 1.

PART THREE: DESIGNING YOUR ROAD MAP

➢ Designing the road.

1. Use a piece of white construction paper (12x18).

The paper will be provided by Ms. Denison.

2. Design a road on this paper that has a beginning and an end.

3. This road could be a winding country road, a busy downtown street, a superhighway, or a design of your choice.

4. Use pencil when designing your road in case you need to make changes. You will color it when it is completely finished.

➢ Designing the stops. Once you have designed your road, add ten “stops” along the way. These stops can be:

➢ traffic lights exit ramps

➢ stop signs detours

➢ yield signs road hazards

➢ street names toll booths

➢ bridges stores and buildings

➢ Adding the information.

1. At each stop write the title and date of event 1 from graphic organizer 2.

2. Under the title write the two complete sentences that accompany that particular event.

3. Continue along your stops, adding events in sequential order as you move along the road.

4. Make sure you have clearly marked a beginning and an end to your road map.

5. Erase all pencil lines. Make sure your map is colored.

Written Report

A written report must accompany your road map. The report should include, but is not limited to, the 10 events that you included on your road map. The information should only come from the biography or autobiography you read. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. The report must be typed.

2. Font should be Times New Roman or Courier New.

3. Font size is 12.

4. The whole report is to be double spaced.

5. Printed in black ink. No color ink on the report.

6. No pictures in your typed report.

7. All margins (top, bottom, left, right) should be 1”.

8. Spell check does not find all spelling or word mistakes. Have mom or dad edit your paper.

9. Punctuation and grammar are import and must be correct. Again have mom or dad edit your paper.

10. Your report must be written in your own words.

April 3- book read

April 12- road map and report due- The written report must be printed out prior to coming to class.
