The Roaring Twenties Magazine Project

The Roaring Twenties Magazine Group Project

The 1920’s was an era in American History that has been characterized by clashes. Clashing lifestyles, cultures, laws and ideologies all contributed to a changed America. The 1920’s saw an America that celebrated a postwar victory with new freedoms for women, new musical styles, new automobiles, and economic prosperity, yet continued to struggle with racism, saw an emergence in ideological clashes as well as set the stage for economic despair. Regardless, new mediums of entertainment swept the nation—everything from Movies to Baseball to Magazines helped characterize the 1920’s. Magazines were the new trend in entertainment and information—editorial giants, like “Reader’s Digest, “Time” and “The New Yorker” published their first issues during this era.
