It allows afterschool providers to offer programming during the day school. More information can be found on the NYSED website. State doesn’t expect any huge changes with the reauthorization education act for at least two years. SCR Fee Update (Gavin)-letters were emailed to agencies to encourage them to fax letters to Sen. Gallivan. Gavin thanked everyone for their participation and encouraged others to fax letters to show support. Jill asked if the agencies that mailed or faxed the letter also copy the United Way. Dignity for All Act (Kim)-The law will be in affect this July 1st and Afterschool providers must make sure that they are in conversation with their partnering schools. Kim will talk to the district about offering a PD opportunity for the AS providers. Presentation from John Craig, WNED (Resources for health and wellness)Distributed videos that the providers could use in their programs. Kim offered to give the people who attended a professional development certificate for the presentation. Update (Karyn)-YPQI has been administered at 6 program sites and according to the data the Women’s Foundation is now going to provide PD in the areas suggested by the YPQI. Gavin mentioned that the OST systems building effort is working closely with the ASNWNY to make sure we can learn from their experiences with YPQI. We envision that other agencies can build quality improvement into their programming based on the experiences of this effort. Summer Programming / Summer SchoolKim will update based on what she hears from BPS Right now the two options are to NOT have a BPS summer program or to offer a two week ? day program at the end of August. Tentative April meeting with Summer Providers –April 26 @10 AM at the United Way. Follow-up email will be sent once solidified. Connection between attendance and after-school programs (Kim Luce and Caroline Taggart) Attendance Counts PD opportunity with BPS at BOCES in May 3rd from 10-12pmProviders need to in alignment with the district about the attendance goals and understanding the attendance pilots at a few BPS schools.
