We are committed to embedding our values of excellence, creativity, integrity and respect in everything we rmation about the roleThe Lead Specialists posts will be based in the Professional Learning and Leadership Directorate within Education Scotland which has strategic responsibility for ensuring high quality professional learning for education professionals across Scotland. We bring experience from right across the education system, where we work nationally, regionally and locally. We are committed to an empowered education system, ensuring the best possible professional learning opportunities are made available to teachers at all levels and stages of their career. These new Lead Specialists posts are designed specifically to take forward an ambitious set of proposals focused on Enabling Teacher Agency with a strong focus on teacher health and wellbeing and teacher leadership. Post holders will work within the existing structures in Education Scotland to develop a portfolio of opportunities working directly with teachers, schools, colleagues in local government and national organisations to enhance teacher agency and wellbeing. The roles will require ongoing liaison and consultation with a range of teacher networks, professional bodies, partner organisations, senior staff in local authorities, their educational establishments, universities and the Scottish Government.An Advisory Group is in place to support this work as it progresses and the Lead Specialists will be expected to engage with Advisory Group members, report on progress and provide advice on next steps. In building this portfolio of provision the Lead Specialists are required to liaise with a range of providers to commission and procure services on behalf of the organisation.Specific dutiesThe Lead Specialists work with the Professional Learning and Leadership team within Education Scotland to:Take forward the overall objectives of the Enabling Teacher Agency group within the agreed timeframe.Produce, develop and implement innovative plans for an enhanced, coherent approach to professional learning in the specific areas of teacher health and wellbeing and teacher leadership and ensure alignment with professional learning and leadership in Scotland more broadly.Coordinate, lead and facilitate a range of professional learning programmes and opportunities as required to achieve the overall objectives agreed with the Advisory Group.Engage with relevant research to inform the development of a coherent approach to professional learning in this area.Ensure this work coheres with other development activity within the PLL Directorate, Education Scotland and education and public services in Scotland more generally. Where appropriate contribute to the development of, and engagement in extension of the PLL Online Resource, including the auditing of current provision at local, regional, national and international levels, and the implementation and maintenance of endorsement processes, with a focus on professional learning.Liaise with a range of providers to commission and procure services on behalf of the organisation.Report progress, prepare and present papers and briefings for the Enabling Teacher Agency Advisory Group, Education Scotland and Scottish Government colleagues and key stakeholder groups and organisations.Act on his/her own initiative to take appropriate action where necessary, on educational developments generally and, more specifically, those related to professional learning in this area.Represent Education Scotland at meetings and provide presentations at local, regional and national events and other stakeholder and public events related to the work of the Enabling Teacher Agency Advisory Group. Ensure that the quality of services is of the highest standard at all times;Undertake any other tasks consistent with the post.Essential criteriaYou will be asked to provide evidence of how you meet these criteria in your application:An excellent track record of innovation and development relating to professional learning and programme development related to health and wellbeing and/or educational leadership.
