Opportunities for Service

Habitat for Humanity - Unity Build 2017

Unity Build is the coming together of local faith communities to build homes in New Orleans. In October, 8-10 local church communities,

including Rayne, will participate in a Unity Build during all four weekends. The site is located in New Orleans East. This Unity Build

offers us a great opportunity for connectivity and service.

Build dates include: October 5-8

October 12-14 October 19-21 October 26-28

is just around the corner. Now is the time

to begin making items for the Mission Market. We welcome your new hand-crafted creations such as jewelry, quilts,

crocheted scarves and hats, knitted caps,

shawls, and other arts and crafts.

Meet with Jay, Marissa, and William next door as they share information and offer a time of guided conversation, listening together, and praying for the Holy Spirit to lead us deeper into

a faithful and fruitful use of the recently purchased "Epiphany House."

Food Needed for Rayne Pantry

The items needed are: canned meat (tuna fish, chicken, Vienna Sausages), canned vegetables, soup (not condensed), chili, stew, and single canned meals (Ravioli, Spaghettios, Beefaroni, etc.). Most of our neighbors seeking food do not have a way to prepare it. When possible, it is better to purchase cans with easy open tabs, pouches, cartons or bottles. A few of our neighbors need food and have limited capability to cook it. The items most needed are: spaghetti sauce, noodles, and dried beans. __________________________________________________

Always Needed at the Donation Station

Hotel-sized amenities: soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, as well as razors, reading glasses, and bandaids. _________________________________________________

Crescent City Caf?

This young adult ministry, "compelled by the love of Christ," serves a gourmet breakfast restaurant-style with dignity and grace to those in need twice monthly. The next caf? will be Saturday, October 7, 8 am, in the Fellowship Hall. To donate or volunteer, go to _________________________________________________

This group meets each Tuesday at 1 pm in the Associate Pastor's office to pray for the concerns of our community of believers.

Grace Class, One in the Spirit & Gratitude Class

On Sunday, October 1, at 10 am, in the Library (Room 107), the Grace Class, One in the Spirit, and the Gratitude Class will begin a study group on The Divine Dance by Richard Rohr. They will be serving as an accountability and discussion group

for those who want to read the book together in advance of the December seminar.

Mom's Bible Study Reconvenes

Thursdays at 9:45am in the Parlor (Room 103) On September 28, this class will begin a new study

on the lesson of the Prodigal Son.

Young Adult Bible Study

Mondays, 6:30-8 pm, Youth Room #219 The Call by Adam Hamilton Follow the journeys of Paul, beginning with his dramatic conversion, as he spread the Gospel through modern-day Greece and Turkey. Travel to the early church sites and explore Paul's conversations with the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians. In this six-week study, you are invited to experience faith through Christ's greatest teacher and missionary.

Habitat Unity Build - 2 Volunteer Opportunities October 1 and 28

We have two volunteer opportunities to help support the interfaith Habitat Unity Build with Rayne and other faith-based groups from all over New Orleans. First, the United Methodist Men are hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, October 1 for the Saints game in London. Shifts begin at 7:45 and go through the afternoon. Second, on October 28, we have 8 spots reserved for Rayne 20/30 to participate in the Unity Build as volunteers. If you're interested in either of these volunteer opportunities,
