News and Events

Dear Trillium Creek Families and Friends:

It's amazing to see that the end of the school year has arrived. I want to thank all of you for the support and patience shown these past 10 months, especially with the new principal. Reflecting on the past school year makes us realize how fortunate we are at Trillium Creek Primary. Our school has been successful due to the wonderful collaborative partnership between students, staff members, and parents. Our students are meeting high standards of performance due to the excellent teaching from our wonderful staff and support from our parents. We must recognize our students for their perseverance, hard-work, and effort displayed throughout the school year. Today's 5th Grade Recognition Program was a huge success! We were able to send this inaugural class on to middle school with a wonderful celebration and great hopes for their future.

We are thankful to the hundreds of volunteers who have assisted in our classrooms, library, and during special events this past school year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful PTA and executive board. They, along with the excellent leadership by PTA President Stephanie Gettel, have provided wonderful support to Trillium students, staff and administration. Thank you to all parents on the PTA and the various committees for your endless contributions and dedicating a great deal of time to provide engaging activities, programs and events for our school. Without your support and dedication, Trillium Creek would not be the wonderful school it is.

Educating our children for a successful future is important and influential work. I want to thank the incredible teaching and support staff of Trillium Creek. Their daily efforts in providing the richest experience possible for our students is commendable. This incredible staff continues to focus on improvement and they continue to find ways to leverage our resources--people, time, dollars and relationships--toward boosting success for students and creating a learning environment of which our community is justifiably proud. In ways large and small, each staff member has made a positive difference for kids this year, and this principal deeply values their efforts and their commitment.

Please enjoy the change of pace that the summer brings. Have a happy, relaxing, and safe summer with your children. We look forward to seeing everyone upon our return for the 2018-2019 school year for our Meet & Greet on Thursday afternoon, August 23rd. Letters will be mailed to your home during the week of August 20th, naming your child's teacher for the new school year.

Happy summertime, Jim Mangan

As a reminder, students were able to hear about the West Linn Public Library's summer reading program and showed enthusiasm for participating. You are welcome to go to the public library this week to sign up! Additionally, please know that students may continue to go to our TCPS website this summer and access both Tumblebooks, and our e-book and audiobook account with Overdrive. Both resources may be accessed through the link to Digital Resources under our For Students tab. Students should sign in to Overdrive using their school email address and student id number with the addition of a capital P, for example: P123456. For Tumblebooks log in information, students should refer to the Digital Resources Home Access card that was distributed earlier this year, and is also available in the office. Wishing you a wonderful summer of reading together!

Calling all TCPS families that want to enjoy the TCPS School Garden this summer! We have 10 weeks available this summer to help with our better than ever school garden. Helping with the garden is a wonderful way to get outdoors together as a family, help your school and get fresh organic produce at no cost! Three families per week can sign up to help. Green Team co-chairs Nicole Alexander and Charity Hudnut will provide schedule coordination and training if needed. Tasks include: watering, weeding, planting and harvesting. We also need garden signage and are looking for helpers and ideas for this! You'll have access to the school garden shed where you will find all the tools you'll need as well as be able to utilize the new summer garden activity shelf we've added. Here you'll find fun garden activity ideas for children and families, garden art supplies, books and more. Later this summer we should have an abundance of tomatoes, apples and other produce that will be available to all families that sign up - so don't worry if week 1 or 2 seems sparse, there will be more than enough to go around later in the summer! If we have excess harvest in a given week, a family can deliver a basket of fruit and veggies to the West Linn Food Pantry or Nicole/Charity can help facilitate. Families can even suggest things they want to see planted and we should be able to make that happen - as long as the weather and season cooperate with the requests.

Sign up now at the Help Counter website. Email Nicole Alexander (nicole@) or Charity Hudnut (cbomber@) with any questions.
