RULES FOR THE CLASSROOM

[pic]

1. RESPECT. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL. Treat everyone with the same respect that you would want to be treated. Do not worry about making mistakes. We all make them. Do not laugh at others nor make fun of others at their expense. Remember that other cultures are not “stupid,” “weird," nor “dumb.” They are neither good nor bad. They are just different.

a. There is to be NO talking while I am teaching. No one will be talking when another student is talking. If a student has a question, everyone will listen because chances are, two or three other people will have the same question and you may be one of them.

b. You are not to touch anything in the classroom that does not belong to you. Respect everyone’s personal space. This includes drawers, cabinets, others’ backpacks, etc. This classroom is shared with other teachers and students.

2. Students are to be prepared for class when the bell rings.

a. Students are to be in their seats and ready to go. Everything for Spanish class is out of your backpack and on your desk. If a student happens to be late to class, I will make a note of it in my grade-book. If students are late without a pass from another teacher he/she will suffer the consequences according to the school attendance policy.

b. Students are to bring to class everyday the materials for the class: pen (blue/black ink only, please) or pencil, textbook, notebook, packet/worksheets, and good attitude. Have fun! Learning about other cultures and people can help you learn about yourself.

3. No eating. You will be doing lots of speaking activities and I want to be able to clearly hear you. Plus this is a school rule – not mine. Only water is permissible.

4. An absence is not an excuse for an incomplete assignment. Students can check the website . This website is usually updated by the end of the school day with upcoming assignments and possible handouts.

5. The use of hall passes will be kept at a minimum. Do not ask for a hall pass unless it is an emergency.

6. No cell phones, i-pods (or other personal music player), video games or other electronic devises are permitted in class. They will be confiscated and given to the school disciplinarian.

7. All school rules are in effect even though they are not listed on this sheet. Be familiar with the parent-student handbook found on the school’s website.

Consequences…

When not complying with the classroom procedures, the following consequences shall occur…

1. A warning will be given once.

2. A teacher detention will be given for every offense.

3. If the teacher detention is skipped, you will be written up for a school detention.

4. If this continues to be a repetitive problem I will personally call your parents and / or guardian.

Any questions, problems, complaints, praises, etc. can be handled with me outside of class time.
