Featured Project: Tatanka Wind Farm

The Tatanka Wind Farm is located in Dickey and McIntosh Counties, North Dakota, and McPherson County, South Dakota. Muth Electric began the wiring portion of the project in July 2007. This project is to be completed in March 2008.

The wind farm stretches for miles, and gives the impression that a new village has begun from the temporary buildings and mobile units. There are 120 wind turbines on the Tatanka project, 61 in North Dakota and 59 in South Dakota. These towers generate a capacity of 180 megawatts. This is enough electricity to power over 60,000 average homes. North Dakota has enough windpower to generate 40% of the entire United State's electrical needs.

Tatanka plans to feed the power it generates into the Montana-Dakota Utilities system. It is expected to produce approximately 90 megawatts in South Dakota. One megawatt can supply more than 400 homes with the power they need for one hour. An additional 90 megawatts is expected to be produced from the North Dakota towers.

With the completion of the Tatanka Wind Farm, the wind energy generated in South Dakota will more than quadruple, from 44 megawatts to more than 185 megawatts. Tatanka will also create approximately 20 jobs in South Dakota including a staff of engineers, maintenance personnel and tech-

nical support.

Muth Electric's contract is with M.A. Mortenson of Minneapolis, MN. The project manager is Gary Swier. Chris Lee and Gaylord Grieve serve as the project foreman and project estimator.

Other employees assisting in the project are as follows: Eric Lynn, Aaron Dosch, Jon Budt, Kellen Hinker, Darin Hohn, Bill Roth, Brian Walker, Doug Hooth, Tony Maddox, Tim Budde, Gary Gilbertson, Zane Beringer, Shannon Globke, Neil Schneider, Jason Meyer, Casey Berg, Collin Yeo, Dave Peterson, Mike Schumacher, Jay Volek, Paul Wuertz, Sheldon Ribsman, Chad Wille, Kevin Krupke, Chris Mehlhaff, Levi Butler, Tim Mayer, Derek Edgar, Jeramy McCully, Jordan Lokken, Rob Stahl, Adam Louwagie, Pat Braithwaite and Isaac Red Bear, Jr.

Over the past four years, we have been conducting a survey of each of our customer's facilities to record the types and size of features of the electrical systems in place. These are on record in each of our division offices so that when you call with a need for service, we can respond with information about the existing equipment so we can be prepared and possibly eliminate a return trip for parts.

Our goal is to make sure we are working as efficiently as possible to bring you a project that is completed as competitively as possible while still serving all the needs you may have.

5. Training for the Best Service ? Muth Electric employees participate in training to help ensure you receive top notch service every day. In the coming weeks, our employees will take part in training sessions on Lean processes and safe equipment operating methods. Our goal with this training is to help make sure we perform in a safe manner and with the most efficient methods possible.
