VA Officials Meet With Korean Counterparts

WASHINGTON -- Senior leaders of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently met here with their counterparts from the Republic of Korea to discuss the benefits and programs offered by the U.S. government to its veterans.

"We are proud of America’s history of caring for its military veterans," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi. “VA is pleased to share information about our veterans programs with our counterparts from other nations.”

The Korean officials were from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA). The delegation was led by Ha Tae-seak, director of the MPVA’s health care affairs division. He was accompanied on his Oct. 16 visit by the assistant directors and staff members from seven Korean government ministries.

In recent months, VA has hosted delegations from many countries, including the Czech Republic, China, Jordan, Japan, Romania, Russia, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
