ConstitutionArticle l-Name/PurposeSection 1: Russian Student Association Section 2 - To bring together Ohio State students who are interested in culture, history and traditions of the former Soviet Union countries, to promote an appreciation of Russian roots, to improve Russian language knowledge, to learn and explore unique Russian culture traditions and to provide a support for international Russian speaking students.Section 3 - This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. Article II-Membership: Qualifications and categories of membershipMembership limited to current enrolled Ohio State students of Russian and Slavic heritage. Faculty and alumni are welcome to become honorary members.Article III-Organization Leadership: Titles, terms of office, type of selection, and duties of the leadersPresident: management of the organization, coordination of meetings and events, member recruitment and retention, upholding the online management system and its requirements and preparing the organization for success in the future.Co-president: management of the organization, coordination of meetings and events, member recruitment and retention, upholding the online management system and its requirements and preparing the organization for success in the future.Treasurer: chief financial officer, in charge of approving all spending and applying for funds as well as meeting all the requirements of the online management system.The president, co-president, and treasurer shall be elected by the members of the organization to serve a term of one year. Annual elections shall be held the third week of fall semester by means of a ballot. The term of office for all officers shall begin upon completion of elections and end on the same day of the following year. Officers shall be elected by majority vote of members present. Article IV-Methods for Removing Members and Executive OfficersThe membership will be based off recruitment and selection of Ohio State students with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and an interest in exploration of the Russian/Slavic heritage. An officer is required to meet with the applicant prior to approving the membership. Once a student graduates or ceases to attend the University, his/her membership in the organization shall cease. General members and elected officers are expected to be conscious of their representation of the Ohio State University at all events. All members and elected leaders must act respectfully at all events and maintain their GPAs above the specified minimum. In the event that a member does not meet these expectations, their membership will be discussed with all officers, objectively considering the member’s probationary membership status or removal from the organization. The member in question as well as all voting members will be notified of this pending action at least one week prior to the removal decision. The membership status of the individual in question will be decided based on a majority vote of the other voting membership during the following meeting or unanimous vote of the officers. In the event that an officer does not meet these expectations by failing to perform his/her prescribed duties or by violating the purpose of the organization, written charges will be submitted after which a formal hearing will be held. The officer in question as well as all voting members will be notified of this pending action at least one week prior to the removal decision. The officer in question will have the opportunity to answer to these charges during the hearing, and the removal decision will be made by a two-thirds vote of the membership. Article V-Adviser(s): Qualification Criteria.Advisors of student organizations must be members of the University faculty or Administrative & Professional staff. The advisor is the primary resource for the organization, approves funding, registration, funding and provides continuity, perspective, suggestions and advice as need be. Article VI-Participation Requirement An attendance requirement of four biweekly meetings is required for membership as well as participation in at least two events. Article VII – Method of Amending Constitution: Proposals, notice, and voting requirements.In order to amend the Constitution, proposed amendments should be in writing, will not be acted upon but read in the general meeting in which they are proposed, will be read at 2 of the following general meetings and the general meeting in which the votes will be taken. Approval requires at least two-thirds of voting members present.Article VIII – Method of Dissolution of Organization If the organization is subject to dissolution, the President and co-President will be responsible for all logistics, and all three officers (President, co-President, Treasurer) will be responsible for the financial aspects. Should any organization assets and debt exist, they will be divided evenly amongst the three officers. ................
