COMMENTS BY THE COUNCILMEMBERS AFTER RESOLUTIONS

Councilmember Newman- I have nothing Madam President.

Councilmember Kammerdeiner- I have nothing.

Councilmember Mileham- I have nothing.

Mayor Davis- Thank-you Madam President. I would just like to ask everybody to keep in your thoughts and prayers the people in the Bahamas and along the southeast coast with the hurricane. Thank-you Madam President.

Council President Koch- Our last Warriors Walk is tomorrow. I want to thank Skip Johnson from the Historical Society for giving us another year of his service. I hope you can join us at 6:30 P.M. at Vets Park. I want to wish congratulations and the best wishes to all our students who had their first day of school today. I wish them all the best in their upcoming school year. I just want to bring to everybody’s attention the Tonawanda 2020 Capital Project Overview and direct you to the City of Tonawanda School District’s website for more information and to educate yourself. There’s going to be some public meetings and they’re going to be held Tuesday, September 24 at 6:00 P.M. at Fletcher and Thursday, September 26 at 6:00 P.M. at Mullen and Monday, September 30 at 6:00 P.M. at Riverview. It does require a public referendum and that vote will take place on October 22 in the High School Wellness gym from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. So, you can educate yourself on what the district would like to do there. I received an e-mail, the Mayor, the council and I received and e-mail back in August, at the end of August from Chief Stuart and I just want to share that with the community. The fire department performed 32 basement pump outs in the aftermath of that rainfall we experienced at the end of August. The calls started coming in at about 4:00 A.M. and kept going until 10:00 P.M. So, I want to thank the fire department for all their efforts and their response to our residents. A shout out to the Tonawanda Varsity Cheerleaders. There are two cheerleaders who have been invited to march in Disney on November 22- November 25. I know there’s a Go-Fund Me page to raise money to send several cheerleaders to Disney and we have our varsity coach here too so congratulations to those girls. It’s a prestigious honor for them to even be invited. I headed out of town and I went out west. I just got back on Sunday. I went to Boise, Idaho. I was visiting a friend out there. Anytime I’m kind of traveling I like to stop by their city halls. So, I visited Weiser, Idaho and look it up population 4,000 people. It was nice to stop by and see their city hall. Then I stopped by Boise City Hall and in comparison to ours obviously Boise’s is significantly larger than the City of Tonawanda. But, I had some good discussions with the public officials there and they wanted to present each official here with a pin. So, I wanted to give a Boise Idaho pin to each official. It was nice to get a tour of their city hall and take a look at things and hear what their residents and constituents concerns were. It was an interesting experience. I did promise their mayor a photo so at our next meeting if you can bring a camera we can take a photo and send it to him. The council will be meeting in the back. Have a good night.
