| | |new exchange-traded funds. |

| | |U.S. ETF market assets were approximately $935.9 billion in October. IShares, Vanguard, and SPDR State Street Global Advisors |

| | |experienced the highest inflows of assets, while ProShares, Direxion Funds, and United States Commodity Funds were among those|

| | |with the greatest asset outflows. The diversified emerging-markets, large-blend, and commodities precious metals categories |

| | |had the greatest inflows, totaling around $16.28 billion, while the trading-inverse equity, long government, and commodities |

| | |energy categories had the greatest outflows, totaling approximately $2.23 billion. |

| | |The funds with the greatest October inflows include Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets VWO ($4.60 billion), iShares MSCI Emerging |

| | |Markets EEM ($2.94 billion), and SPDR S&P 500 SPY ($2.61 billion). The funds with the highest outflows were ProShares |

| | |UltraShort S&P500 SDS (down $484 million), iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond TLT (down $434 million), and iPath S&P 500 VIX ST |

| | |Futures ETN VXX (down $392 million). |

| | |The three highest-performing U.S. ETF categories for the month of October were India equity, trading-leveraged equity, and |

| | |Europe stock with returns ranging from 11.12% to 4.94%. The three lowest-performing ETF categories for the month were |

| | |trading-inverse equity, volatility, and commodities miscellaneous with returns ranging from negative 8.15% to negative 6.8%. |

| | |October 2013 returns for the U.S. ETF universe averaged positive 2.1%, compared with 3.06% returns from the previous month. |
