Sports Treasure Hunt - Teacher's Guide

Overview

In this activity the students will be doing a treasure hunt to find out information about sports, superstitions, animal athletes and more. You may print all the information necessary from the Internet and designate corners of the room as 'information sections' of the treasure hunt. You may use the Internet site mentioned below and have the students work on-line.

Students can access all the Internet sites for the Interactive Activities by clicking on Students' Area in the ECB On-line homepage, then click on:

Procedure

Tell the students that they are going to participate in a Sports Treasure Hunt.

Team work is very important and each member of the team much has a responsibility. There are two activity sheets for different levels.

Activity One - A and Activity One (more advanced students). Please look at both activities before deciding which is appropriate for your students. You may use either one activity sheet or both for your class.

You may want to set a time limit of one class lesson to see which groups find the answers.

Designate an area of the classroom for each category and place the information there.

Important — stress that this activity is best done if each member of the team is responsible for part of the treasure hunt.

Give an activity sheet to each pair or group and send them on their way.

The first team that gets all the answers is the winner!!
