THE SAFEST PLACE FOR YOUR MONEY

Losing money is not fun. Coins can slip out of your pocket or get lost in the couch. It can be hard to keep track of your money at home! Keeping your coins in a piggy bank is a good start, but there's an even better place to store your money. Do you know where?

A savings account at DCU is the safest place for your money. You don't have to worry about forgetting where you put it. And we use lots of tools to help make sure your money stays safe.

The vault: We keep money in the vault, a big room with thick walls and a strong lock. Only a few people with special permission can access the money inside.

Security cameras: We have cameras all over the building to see everyone who comes into the building, when they leave, and what they do when they are here. So the next time you visit the branch, smile! You're on camera.

Computer technology: Our computer system also helps us keep your money safe. It uses passwords and encryption (a secret code) to keep your information private. That means only you and your parents can access the account.

Of course, we can't tell you everything about our security. Some secrets help us keep your money safe. And that's one reason why DCU is the best place to store your savings.

SMART SQUIRRELS

Do you like watching squirrels? It's fun to see them scurrying around, burying their acorns, and leaping from tree to tree. There are more than 200 types of squirrels. They live all over the world, except Antarctica and Australia.

3 Squirrels have a great memory. They remember most of the places where they've stored their food for the winter. Did you know that squirrels sort their food by type and what they like to eat?

Squirrels are smart creatures. They might look like they're playing, but the way they behave helps them stay alive. Here are five fun facts about squirrels:

1 Squirrels have a strong sense of smell. They can find food that's buried under a foot of snow.

2 Squirrels' front teeth never stop growing. Eating nuts and tree bark keeps their teeth short.

4 Squirrels dart back and forth to avoid hawks and other animals that want to eat them.

5 Squirrels may pretend to bury an acorn to trick other squirrels who want to steal their food.

Squirreling away food for winter is like putting away money for a time when you don't have as much. Stash your money in your savings account at DCU so it's there when you need it.
