2011-2012

School Goals:

There will be a safe and orderly environment that supports the physical, emotional and social well-being of all students. Additionally there will be school partnerships that also encourage the well-being of students, families and staff.

Data/Evidence:

Student achievement is enhanced when the educational environment is both safe and conducive for learning.

Support for schools and for student achievement increases when partnerships are created and sustained through communicating and creating a positive and safe school climate.

Theory of Action:

If we have:

Then, students will be educated within a positive, safe environment with family and community involvement.

• Teachers communicate with families on a weekly basis to make consistent home-school connections involving both academic and social areas.

• EIP/ SRBI Practices Implemented within All Settings focused on involving parents at the Tier I level.

• DARE Program for Grade 5 Students

• Community Safety Program

• Human Growth and Development Instruction

• Partnerships with ALTA, YMCA, Public Library, Lowes Co. Bread for Life, Early Childhood Collaborative and Family Resource Center, Margaret Griffin Child Development Center, Southington Police and Fire Departments, Southington Education Foundation and others as appropriate throughout the year.

Professional Development Needs:

• Procedural and operational reviews and updates to emergency procedures

• Continued development of the E.I.P./SRBI model of intervention and focus on sustainability and parental involvement.

• Southington Youth Services in-service workshops (child abuse, suicide prevention, substance abuse)

• Bloodborne pathogens and food allergy awareness programs.

• PMT Training

• STEP/Building Blocks to Good Character training to parents and students.
