Job Description

Finance Assistant

Location: Based at Five Lamps Head Office, Thornaby. This post requires an element of multi-site working and consequently the post is designated as ‘essential car user’ (business car insurance is required)

Hours: 30 hours per week (job share available). Flexible hours (evenings and weekend working may be required)

Responsible to: Finance Officer

Salary Scale: SCP 17 – 20 (£15,662 – £17,172) for 30 hours

Job Purpose: To be an integral part of the organisations’ finance team, assisting with technical and administrative support

Contract Period: Permanent

Duties & Responsibilities

• Use Sage Line 50 accounting system to ensure that all financial systems operate efficiently and effectively

• Ensuring that all financial records are properly completed and kept up to date

• Ensure all financial transactions are properly conducted, recorded and follow correct procedures

• Reconciliation of high volume loan account transactions

• Work closely with other staff to ensure that financial procedures are followed consistently throughout the organisation.

• To ensure that all sales invoices are properly raised and posted and that payment is received on time.

• Support the finance function in processing accounting journal entries and reconciliations according to agreed procedures and deadlines

• Provide project monitoring support to enable financial claims to be submitted and provide assistance across the organisation’s portfolio on finance matters as required

• Scanning invoices, delivery notes and other documents to be uploaded onto our financial system

• Attend the organisations’ sites collecting and recording petty cash and making deposits at the bank

• Payments of company expenses

• To assist the Finance Officer with the day to day running of the IT & Telecom systems as required

• Use initiative to work within agreed timescales

• To maintain the highest standards of organisational and customer confidentiality at all times

• To demonstrate a commitment towards your own continuous personal development

• To monitor and maintain quality throughout the different areas of the service in relation to the external quality standards and inspection bodies and organisations

• To interface and make referrals to other Five Lamps projects

• To implement Five Lamps’ policies on Health and Safety, Data Protection and Equal Opportunities at all times

• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the scope of the post
