Blepharoplasty: Overview TranscriptSpeaker 1: (00:01)[Accompanied by images of the condition described and its symptoms] The first thing people see when they look at you is your eyes when it comes to expressing thoughts and emotions, your eyes or an important facial feature for communicating these feelings. If your eyes look tired, people think you look tired. The thin layer of skin surrounding your eyes can begin to sag over time, which can cause you to look tired and beyond your years. In addition to making you look older, sagging skin around the eyes can also impair your vision. To regain of fresh, youthful appearance and eye lid lift or blepharoplasty can be performed to improve these effects of aging. In a blepharoplasty procedure, excess scan, muscle and fat may be removed or repositioned in the upper and lower eyelid areas. Your surgeon will first identify the lines and creases of the eyelids to disguise incisional scars among the natural folds of the scan. The incision for the lower eyelid blepharoplasty may be performed just under the eyelashes or inside of the eyelid. At the end of the procedure, the surgeon places fine sutures to close the wounds, which will minimize the scars. An average blepharoplasty procedure can take one or two hours to perform. Depending on the extent of your surgery, complimentary procedures such as a face lift, neck lift, mini lift, or skin resurfacing, can be performed at the same time. You may want to discuss these procedures with your surgeon. Establishment of a good rapport between doctor and patient will help to assure realistic expectations and desired results. ................
