Seventeen AP courses and honors courses are offered across disciplines. Block scheduling offers greater choice and flexibility in course selection and prepares students for the transition to college scheduling. Core ResponsibilitiesFaith Community AffairsIn conjunction with the President:Ensures the Catholic character of the school is developed and nurtured Hires faculty and staff whose values are compatible with the missionHelps faculty and staff to integrate the mission in academic affairs, athletic affairs and campus ministry affairsEnsures opportunities for practice of the faith through liturgies, retreats, and service Academic AffairsIn conjunction with the president, hires, evaluates and dismisses faculty and specified staffWorks closely with the dean of studies in curriculum, master schedule and rostering, student progress, teaching and professional responsibilities, appointment and evaluation of department chairpersonsSupervises, observes, and evaluates facultyOversees professional development programsEnsures quality guidance and counseling programCoordinates faculty meetingsReviews minutes from regular department meetingsProvides orientation for new teachers?Student AffairsWorks closely with the dean of student affairs in discipline policies, supervision of all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and sports, publication of the Student HandbookEnsures the maintaining of student recordsMakes decisions regarding suspensions and dismissals upon the advice of the dean of student affairsEnsures the development and implementation of policy, in partnership with the athletic director, regarding player eligibility and expectations of coaches and staffHires, supervises and evaluates the athletic director and in conjunction with the athletic director, hires coachesAppoints moderators of activities and events in conjunction with the dean of student affairsOtherImplements policy with regard to academic, student, athletic and campus ministry affairsDevelops with the president, faculty policy and procedure handbookAttends Board of Directors’ meeting as a non-voting ex-officio memberAssists the president and the director of finance in the development of the annual school budgetAssists the president and Board of Directors in the development of short and long-range plansOversees the completion of all government and accreditation reportsDevelops the school calendar in conjunction with other administratorsActs in the place of the president when she is not presentDesired Qualities and QualificationsThe school operates in the President/Principal Leadership Model. In this model of leadership, the Principal reports to the President and is responsible for day-to-day academic?operations.
