Given the organization and its’ goals, the strategic tools used will consist of the issues outlined in the organization and how to best handle them by using supported computing applications. Also, some implementation tools will help to strategize recommendations towards measurements of the strategy. Keywords: strategies, computing strategic, computing applications, social media, social computing plan, online, media, conversation prism, connections, organizations and businesses.Facility Management Organization: Social Computing PlanIt is in fact as defined by IFMA, International Facility Management Association, (2014): that a facility management “is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.” By analyzing social communication applications to support my strategy to fix issues related to the incorporation of social media, I will be able to recommend tools on measuring the computing plan to make a positive impact on external and internal communication, employee and customer satisfaction, expansion of business, and the success of reaching the organization’s goals. Organization B is the given organization in this assignment. It is a facilities management organization that provides cleaning services to businesses, buildings and major facilities across the western United States. The organization works directly with building management firms to provide building-wide maintenance or with individual companies to provide services for their building. It has a sales team that is based in each of the major cities where the organization provides services, along with a manager and team members that do the maintenance work. It would like to expand into social computing to connect their employees and to generate additional contracts in both the areas they are currently operating in and to expand to new areas. Identified Issues in the OrganizationOne of the issues that is identified within the organization is the company access. This should be mended where the employees would have limited access to company forms information, and employee personal identification. Having this kind of access would enable employees to be more involved in their work life and to actually have some semblance of communication via news and updates. Making sure that everyone is in the loop will greatly benefit the employees. It could benefit most foot print on the company website and induce more comments and employee satisfaction. Another issue found in this type of organization would be the communication route for both employees and customers. The company would be able to set up a quick instant messaging box on the side of their website to answer any questions that customers may have if they are experiencing difficulties calling customer service. For employees, the instant messaging would be able to let all separate management organizations connect with each other. By having instant communication with all different branches, employees would be able to get to know one better, share ideas in any aspect of the organization, and to advertise team work and good morale. As for clients, potential clients, and other inquirers, the instant chat messaging box would be able to help those that does not have access to a mobile device. This way of communication could be effective for them if they are trying to multi-task while doing other work or to simply ask a quick general question. Since the corporate organization would like to further expand their businesses but does not currently have access to social computing, an issue that they would have are the marketing tactics that social media is able to provide for them. For instance, “your employees online represent the new front line of public relations, marketing and customer service” (Holtz, n.d.). Using such social media is able to connect employees with customers and how to effectively problem solve without having too much incoming calls through the phone lines. Another great aspect about going into social media is the attention that it will garner from the current client work, advertisements, and press. The last issue that the organization can fix would be their marketing tactic. Videos associated with the organization could be potential marketing tactic towards gaining more clientele. Videos and snip clips would be helpful for new clientele to see some of the differences in how the organization operates compared to others in the same industry. It can also be more persuasive for some, depending on how the company “learns.” Social Computing Applications & Implementation IssuesOne of the first and foremost common social media applications to use is Facebook. This application is able to provide many services in one without having to open too many accounts with other social media websites. The quantity of foot print on this social media website is able to increase the marketing tactics of the organization. By initiating posts of news, media, images, and attachments, the organization is able to communicate to the nation of their products and services. Using Facebook is also a great way to communicate with clients, potential clients, and employees in one place. Customers are able to leave reviews, their customer satisfaction, and ask questions. Employees are also able to answer questions and leave comments on any posts updated onto the Facebook page for the organization. Holtz (n.d.) wrote that “employees can surface complaints or issues raised by members of the online communities in which they participate. They can hear ideas and gather intelligence that will enable the company to solve problems, improve customer satisfaction and adapt nimbly to changing customer needs and desires.” This application would go to support the expansion of the business into different regions of the world and to also gather bigger contracts with new surrounding businesses. An alternative social computing application that the organization can use is YouTube. YouTube is a media website that is overloaded with videos of anything and everything. YouTube (2015) states that “it is a powerful way to gain new customers through video content on the web, but it’s also a community-driven social media network that values meaningful content and genuine community engagement with real people and stories.” This application would be able to market the organization’s products and services. For example, if the organization decided to upload videos that they have made in regards to shadowing a maintenance team on how they ensure the highest quality of work, it goes to show the team’s morale and the amount of dedication and effort they put into delivering the best service. Other videos can be based on what goes on during their preparation for the services or how some administrations view the importance of some business aspects. This type of video marketing is able to support the knowledge of trust between the company, branches, and customers. The comparison of the video to the actual work being done is able to show the end delivery of the service and product provided. Youtube supports the more direct marketing approach for the company since they are attending trade shows. It would help clients in understanding what happens when the maintenance teams arrive on location and how they handle any situation that arises while being on location. Twitter is another great way to market the organization’s services and products. DeMers (2014) states that this network has continued to grow, with an increased focus on the sophistication of it advertising platform.” This computing application can be used to connect with “inspirational people, joining conversations, and to also gain exposure.” Twitter is able to support the organization when it comes to reports of increased sales area, potential area expansion, great customer satisfaction, and other similar reports. Twitter can help to strategize focuses on the buildup for the organization by initiating conversations and attaching objects for customers to view and critique.In order to help shape the intranet for the employees use, it should be created and updated with the thought of a more productive and communicative work environment. Chatter is able to support this organization by implementing their services and products into the intranet. Chatter (n.d.) advertises it product as “the enterprise social network that connects every employee with the files, data, and experts they need.” By using Chatter to solve the issue of limited access, it can also be used to boost morale and employee satisfaction in the workplace. This application is most beneficial because of the ease of use and the information that it holds. For instance, it can contain forms and documents that an employee may need to find to refer back on rules and regulations. It can also contain a price list and how much a service may cost if a client is wanting to add additional service plans. “The forums would share insight with all employees and they would also be able to give direct feedback.” By implementing Chatter into the equation, different departments would experience a calmer working environment due to the less frequent inquiry phone calls and less emails. Measurement RecommendationsWhat all these social computing applications have in common is that it is all able to help boost marketing standards and targets toward the organization’s goals. The applications are able to measure potential expansion areas in the nation, create reports based on increased sales and where sales are decreasing, great employee communication and satisfaction, and other reports and forms as well. These measurements can let us know how to improve company morale with the employees by finding out what the company needs to improve on so that the working environment can run more smoothly. Another important measurement is customer satisfaction. Their satisfaction will let the company know what needs to improve and which branches are reaching the outstanding levels of customer service and who needs more training and different development training in order to boost the company. ConclusionLastly, creating and updating social media web forms for the organizations can create an easier flow of the work place by decreasing the disturbance level of inquiry and customer troubleshooting. By implementing the use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Chatter, the organization can experience the different positive changes in how employees and customers are experiencing their services and working environment. “Ultimately, providing employees with access… -- and in the process of becoming a more networked organization – will increasingly become a success factor for organizations.
