What's happening

The migration from GroupWise (RSL's Corporate Email) to Outlook/Exchange is quickly approaching, and although the sending and receiving of email will not be too different; there will be a number of changes that you should be aware of; which will be addressed in training material. The target date for the change over, is the weekend of October 8th. The following Monday morning everyone will be on Outlook/Exchange.

What needs to be done in preparation:

Clean up your old email. The less items in your mailbox the quicker the migration will take.

Review whom you are sharing folders with in GroupWise, and make notes or screen shots as these shares will need to be re-established in Outlook. Remove any unnecessary shares. Additional instructions will follow.

Be on the lookout for more information about the migration and make sure; you read all of the supplied documentation.

Lastly, and most important be prepared for differences. As stated earlier, sending and receiving email is very similar to GroupWise, but the layout and navigation in Outlook is different and will take a little time to get used to.

What is not migrating

One thing that can not be controlled are the items in GroupWise that will NOT migrate to Outlook. The reasons for why different things will not migrate vary, but in general, there are major differences between how GroupWise and Outlook were developed so there is no easy way to migrate certain functions. Below are some of the items that will not migrate, but can be re-established within Outlook:
