Performance Task ? Help Wanted: A Great Team Member

Students will discuss what types of `teams' students can be a part of, i.e. sports, classrooms, clubs, families, community groups. Students will then brainstorm attributes and traits that make up a great member of each particular type of team. Students will choose what type of `team' they want to be a part of and create a Help Wanted ad for a member of their team. Additionally, students will write and present a :30 second advertisement/commercial for their `team member' wanted ad.

Stimuli:

Writing on the Wall from pages 466-469 in Student Anthology Teamwork with Ben Franklin video from Sample `Help Wanted' ads from newspapers or internet

Sample Schedule:

Day 1 ? Watch and read the stimuli. Discuss different types of teams. Brainstorm attributes and traits that make a great team member.

Day 2 & 3 ? Craft the help wanted ad. Write, edit and revise. Day 4 ? Write or type up the ads and compile them into a classroom

newspaper format Day 5 & 6 ? Begin writing the :30 second script for the

advertisement/commercial. Write, edit and revise. Practice performing and timing with a partner. Day 7 & 8 ? Deliver the :30 second advertisements/commercials to the class. (Optional ? teachers can video the students performances and play them back for them)
