COURSES TITLES and DESCRIPTIONS:

VEDIC YAJÑA COURSE:

May 21st, 8 p.m. to May 23rd 3h30 p.m.

A profound study of the Vedic ritual (including a very rare movie of a Vedic Yajña)

Yajña is action. It is the fruitful action par excellence, whose goal is accomplished without undesirable results. The Yajña is a major theme of the Veda. It is performed out of personal desire, in response to the needs of the different circumstances of life, or out of duty, as a part of Vedic ritual life. This course is based on the description of a specific yajña last performed by hundreds of pundits in Kerala in 1975. This Yajña course includes:

• an explanation of the main principles, structure and steps of the yajña-s as described in the Veda and what each participant is supposed to do in the yajña and gain from it

• reading of a section of a ritual text

• watching and reciting certain aspects of the yajña

• commentaries on the movie and beautiful photographs of the yajña.

VEDANTA OF SHANKARA:

Vedanta I: May 24th, 2 p.m. to May 29th, 4p.m.

Vedanta II: May 29th, 8 p.m. to June 3rd, 4p.m.

Study of Shankara’s commentaries of the Brahmasûtra

The Brahmasûtra and Shankara’s commentaries on it are the summit of consciousness. Traditionnaly, it is considered as being the expression of Conciousness itself becoming Speach. The text expresses this paradox of conciousness being one and unmanifest ( called Kaivalia by Pantanjali) and coupled with the infinite dynamism (as described in Jaimini’s Karmamîmâmsâ).

VEDIC RECITATION VI (VR VI):

June 4th , 8 p.m. to June 6th, 3h30 p.m.

Learning to recite Sama Veda texts

VOICE WORSHOP:

June 6th, 8 p.m. - June 8th, 3h30 p.m.
