COVID-19 Testing Information & ResourcesFall 2020All students will be required to have a COVID test prior to clinical. VMC & OCH students have to show results within 14 day of the clinical start date. ECH students have to show results within 30 day of the clinical start date.Testing Options:Contact your Health Care Provider for testingMake an appointment with a county siteGo to a pop-up siteDrive thru testing by appt only (see link) testing should be free, but providers who schedule appts may have a fee.If you are working in a healthcare facility and being tested regularly, you may use the results from your workplace as long as it fits into the clinical agencies timeframe.If you are feeling ill, call your healthcare provider for directions to a drive thru clinic. Do not go to a pop-up clinic unless directed to do so.Testing Information: There are currently two types of tests, diagnostic and antibody. Students are required to have a diagnostic test: RT-PCR COVID Test The molecular real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test detects the virus’s genetic material. Rapid result tests are not accepted at this time. Test Results:Test results can be as soon as 3 to 4 days, or as long as 16-17 days, so please plan accordingly. You will need to bring a copy of: 1. the negative test results, 2. your attestation form (found on the SON website), 3. CastleBranch Summary Sheet to your clinical instructor on the first clinical day unless told otherwise. See next page for more testing resources information. Tests at City-run (San Francisco) sites are free to you. If you have health insurance, we will bill your provider. You do not need medical insurance to get tested at a City-run site.
