SAT PREP CLASS INFORMATION LETTER

For students preparing to take the SAT in spring/summer 2020

The GPHS Parent Organization is offering an 8-hour class (2 half-day lessons) to help students prepare for this important test. This class provides an understanding of the SAT format and content, useful test taking and time management tips, guided test practice, and how to identify areas for improvement and target studies to optimize score. Lessons focus on English language arts and math skills covered on the SAT.

The cost of the class is $70 and is substantially lower than comparable workshops offered by corporate test preparation agencies. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Refunds will not be issued after the registration deadline unless class is cancelled due to low enrollment or personal emergency prevents attendance. Class profits are returned to GPHS students by way of Parent Organization contributions to the school for projects, programs, equipment and supplies.

Class is held over two Saturdays, 9 a.m.? 1 p.m., February 1 and February 8. English language arts is covered by Valerie Browning the first Saturday and math by Andrew Williams the following Saturday. Both are taught at Glacier Peak HS and signs will be posted directing students to classrooms. Snacks are provided and students are asked to bring a water bottle from home to help limit trips out of the classroom and lost instruction time.

Students should arrive 15 minutes early, bring The Official SAT Study Guide (2020 Edition) by the College Board, an SAT approved calculator for the math session, two No. 2 pencils, note- taking paper, and picture ID. TO REGISTER for class: Complete the attached registration form and mail with a payment of $70 by check, made out to the GPHS Parent Organization (address and details on form). The school is unable to accept these payments. Classes fill on a first-come-first-serve basis and may open to outside enrollment 5 days prior to registration deadline. Priority is given to GPHS, Snohomish SD, then students outside district. A confirmation will be emailed within 5?8 days of payment delivery. A limited number of scholarships are available for GPHS students needing financial assistance.
