All colleges and universities generally accept either the newly revised SAT with essay or the ACT Plus Writing (Although the University of California still requires that seniors applying for Fall 2020 must still submit the SAT with essay or the ACT Plus Writing, a large majority of universities and colleges no longer require the essay portions of either exam. Be sure to check on that, or, to keep your options open, take each test including the essay portions.  Also, if you are applying for an engineering major, the Universities of California “highly recommend” that you submit two SAT Subject test scores—1) Math Level II (NOT Level I) and 2) a science subject test (biology, chemistry or physics).  Many top tier and/or Ivy League colleges also require SAT subject tests so be sure you do your research on those college websites. Submitting an SAT Subject test score when you apply to certain colleges may also “demonstrate your interest” in certain subjects in which you wish to major, such as history or literature, science, foreign language.  Consult College Board’s website for more information about these subject tests ().
