Tigers send out seven pitchers to defeat Eagles

The Edwardsville Tigers rolled out seven pitchers to cover seven innings Friday at the Bethalto Sports Complex.

All seven were troublesome for the Civic Memorial Eagles.

The Tigers seized command with a seven-run second inning and beat the Eagles 12-3 in a nonconference baseball game. Edwardsville extended its winning streak to 16 in a row to improve to 22-3. CM is 11-6.

Edwardsville's Conrad Heppler started and pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win. CM's runs ? all unearned with the Tigers committing four errors -- came late with two in the sixth inning and one in the seventh.

Hayden Moore homered for Edwardsville, which picked up two hits apiece from Ty Berumen, Gannon Burns, Spencer Stearns and Zak Zoelzer. Stearns drove in three runs, with both Burns and Zoelzer adding two RBI.

Greenfield 12, New Berlin 7 ? Jacob Lansaw hit his eighth home run and pushed his RBI total to 35 in the Tigers' road victory over the Pretzels in New Berlin. Greenfield is 12-0.

Brady Pembrook had three hits, Gavin Roberts and two hits and Greenfield received two RBI each from Lansaw, Pembrook, Roberts and Brody Reif. Drake Stuart reached the 105 pitch limit in five innings and got the win, with Roberts working the last two innings.

New Berlin was led by three hits and three RBI from Matt Drake. Evan Harness, the first of five Pretzel pitchers, got the loss.

Dupo 14, East Alton-Wood River 10 ? The Oilers owned a 15-10 hits advantage, but made six errors that led to 11 unearned runs that carried the Tigers to a victory at Norris

Dorsey Field in Wood River. Dupo is 2-8. EA-WR is 1-15.

Gary Shemonia went 4-for4 with a home run, triple and five RBI for the Oilers, who picked up four hits from Kenny Beachum and two hits apiece from Tyler Robinson and Julian Marshall. Beachum pitched four innings and took the loss, allowing 10 runs (three earned) on five hits, six walks and five strikeouts.

TENNIS Springfield SHG 7, Alton

2 ? Parker Mayhew and Chance Linenfelser earned singles victories for the Redbirds, but the Griffins rolled to a dual win at Washington Park in Springfield.

"We lost to a quality team, but the effort was definitely there tonight," said Alton coach Jesse Macias, who team dipped to 4-10. "Not just Parker and Chance, but everyone competed tonight. We lost two tough three-set matches, but our kids fought to the end. I'm proud of this team."
