Project Objective

The objective of this engagement is to provide the client with a PDA application, which will provide salesman to feed sales related information at customer premises and creates "transactions" based on the delivery of goods to a convenience store and the payment by the store for said goods. Salesperson will provide a receipt of goods drop-off at the store printed through a printer that is attached to the PDA. PDA will also scan bar codes of products using PDA scanner and update the product information. Finally, all these transaction data is transmitted to a central server and synchronize with server. Server connection will either through GPRS or over a docking cradle physical wire.

1 Background

The client is having store delivery environment system by a field sales force that currently measures 10 people but will grow to 100 or more people in the coming 24 months. A PDA application will accept data from sales persons; transactions made by sales person at customer premises will be feed to it and synced with central server. Synchronization will be either through GPRS or physical wire.

Cellica Software Services has put together this proposal to develop PDA application. Cellica Software Services provide custom solutions for PDAs and Mobile devices. The company has extensive experience of software development on Palm OS and Pocket PC. Please see for product details.

We have database products for Mobile phones, Palm, Pocket PC, Smart Phone.

For Palm we have Database Viewer Plus and For PocketPC we have Pocket Database Viewer Plus.

In both product we allow to view and sync all the desktop database like MS Access, Excel ,Oracle ,MySQL, Oracle , SQL Server or any ODBC compliant database. Both application allow to update pda side and transfer updated data on PDA side to particular desktop database .

Cellica’s developers have extensive experience in C/C++, Palm, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, BREW, J2EE and Windows Platform.

Cellica will prefer to develop this application through C++. For PalmOS, Metrowerks Code warrior is preferable development environment and for Pocket PC eVC++ is preferable development environment.

2 Customer Requirement

1. The PDA application 1.0 will allow sales persons to open new account by providing name, address, phone number and other relevant information.

2. The PDA application will allows entering product details including scanned bar code using PDA.

3. The PDA application will provide a receipt of what the salesperson has dropped off at the store, printed to a printer that is attached to the PDA.

4. The application is expected to be developed in C++ and must run on all versions of Palm OS or PocketPC versions.

5. An invoice will be issued to customer by sales person depending on data drawn from server, local PDA data and product store available at customer end. The same transaction details will be transmitted to the central server updating server data.

3 Assumptions

1. Client will host web server having provided services to read/write its internal database from where PDA application will do its transactions.

2. PDA device is well equipped with GPRS connection, bar code scanner, and printer.

3. The Client representative will be available for decision-making and approval of the project details.

4. Cellica and the Client will discuss the project plan with the milestone dates, which will be adhered to by Cellica.

Project Scope of Work

This section outlines the objectives, deliverables and proposed schedule for each stage of the project.

1 Requirements Analysis

Objective: To formalize the functional requirements of the Palm or PocketPC application.

Deliverables: Software Requirement Specification, Revised project schedule.

Time: 10 days

2 Product Design and Development

Objective: To design and develop the Palm / PocketPC application

Deliverables: Design documentation, binaries

Time: 40 days (Palm / PocketPC application)

3 Unit and System Testing

Objective: To unit test the application.

Deliverables: Test plan, results and the source code

Time: 15 days

Project Resources and Financials

This section refers to manpower requirements and project cost.

1 Project Team Resources

• Four Software Engineers with in-depth C/C++ programming skills. Two for PDA GPRS server connection and data syncing development and other two for bar code scanning and printing application development.

• One Quality Assurance Engineer

• One Technical writer

2 Project Cost

All work will be performed on a fixed price basis, and can be used by the client and its subsidiaries, as is.

Invoices shall be sent upon completion of deliverables or the termination hereof -whichever is first. In case of termination, the cost will be equally divided for the duration of the project completed, at the time of termination.

3 Additional Functionality

The cost of new functionality, will be separately billed, and is provided by a new Statement of Work (SOW) document.

4 Agreement

Both parties must agree upon terms and conditions before any work could commence. If the client accepts this proposal, Cellica will update this document as Statement of Work, which need to sign by both parties.
