MADISON AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE

The MATC Foundation offers several new student scholarships, with amounts ranging from $500-$1,000. Go online for the scholarship guide and an application: matcmadison.edu/matc/getstarted/financialaid/foundation.shtm.

Application deadline is April 4.

WISCONSIN SHERIFFS & DEPUTY SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

This scholarship program was developed to offer financial assistance to full-time students in Wisconsin Technical College System Criminal Justice programs. Fourteen $750 scholarships will be awarded. Any Wisconsin state resident that is enrolling in a WTCS school and has a course of study leading to a two-year degree in law enforcement is eligible.

Applications are available in the scholarship file and are due March 1.

NATIONAL FARMERS ORGANIZATION - STEVE PAVICH MEMORIAL AND FARM KIDS FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline: March 3

Eligibility: Seniors planning to major in an agricultural field at an accredited college or university.

Applications are available in the scholarship file.

Award: Five different scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,000.

UNITED WAY 2008 COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AWARDS

These awards recognize people in the community who give of themselves to improve lives and strengthen our community. One youth winner will receive a $500 contribution for his or her non-profit organization, and a $500 scholarship for post-secondary education. Honorees will receive a $250 contribution for their non-profit organization. See file in scholarship file for application information. Nomination deadline is March 7.

KOHL’S KIDS WHO CARE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship program rewards outstanding young people for their community service.

Get more information at . There is a nomination process for this, so you would work with a teacher or counselor to be nominated. Awards range from $50 to $5,000. Deadline: March 15.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIPS

Requirements: Applicants must be a daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson, grandchild, or great grandchild of a veteran, in need of financial assistance, 3.5 GPA or better, resident of Wisconsin. Follow their instructions for submitting a completed application along with an essay, resume, transcript, test score, and three letters of recommendation. Website: or legion-. CHARTER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

High school seniors with a 2.8 GPA or higher intending to major in Marketing, Communications, Accounting, Computer Technology, Engineering, or Business are encouraged to apply for these $1,000 scholarships.

WISCONSIN DELTA EDUCATOR’S SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in education in order to become a teacher.

To apply, submit completed application and essay along with a transcript and two recommendations.

Award: 1 – $1,000. Applications available in the scholarship file. Deadline: March 31.

UW EXTENSIOIN JOHN LYLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships to encourage the education of youth in the agricultural areas of Dane County in farming. For seniors who have a career goal in production agriculture or related home economics. Applications are available online: . Deadline: April 1.

MADISON AREA RETIRED EDUCATOR’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants must be Madison area seniors planning to pursue a degree in education in order to become a teacher.

Applications are available in the scholarship file. Award: 3 - $1,000. Deadline: April 5.

DANE COUNTY CONSERVATION LEAGUE

Applicants must be planning to attend a college or technical school in the fall – enrolled in environmental, forestry, wildlife management, or other conservation related studies. Go to the website for application information: . Scholarships for college and financial assistance for workshops such as “Trees for Tomorrow” are available. Deadline: April 12.

ITALIAN-AMERICAN WOMEN’S CLUB

To be eligible, the student must be of Italian descent and intend to pursue higher education at a two or four-year school. Scholastic ability, community service, and letters of recommendation will be considered in choosing recipients. Applications are available in the scholarship file. Awards range from $500-$1,000.

PRO-LIFE WISCONSIN SHARON SCHUMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be pursuing education at any public or private college or university, active in their pro-life convictions and committed to future pro-life leadership on their college campus.

PARTNERS OF DIVINE SAVIOR HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP

Two $1,000 scholarships for students who are pursuing, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field. One $300 scholarship for a student seeking an Associate’s Degree at a technical college, planning a career in the healthcare field. Scholarships available in the Scholarship File. April 1 deadline.

WISCONSIN SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

Deadline: March 1, 2008

Eligibility: Beginning in September 2008, pursuing a degree program in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science in an accredited school.

How to apply: Request an application from this sponsor along with a brief statement specifying why you wish to pursue this career path and what college or university you plan to attend.

Award: $4,000 ($500 per semester for four consecutive years)

BADGERLAND FARM CREDIT SERVICES AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline: March 17, 2008

Elibigility: Graduating senior enrolled in or planning to attend a college of agriculture (4 year course), the University Short Course, or agricultural courses at a technical school.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Deadline: March 15, 2008

Eligibility: Must have been diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21, legal resident of Wisconsin for at least one year, accepted at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or voc/tech school. Applications are available in the scholarship file.

Awards: Will be paid directly to the institution to supplement fall 2008 semester tuition costs.

WISCONSIN CATTLEMEN’S AND CATTLEWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Deadline: March 17, 2008

Award: 10 at $500

Eligibility: Applicant must have a background in the beef, veal, or dairy industry, resident of Wisconsin, with preference given to those students attending a Wisconsin school and majoring in an agriculture-related field. Go online for the application:

JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline: March 15, 2008

Award: 5 at $2,500 each

Eligibility: Applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident, GPA of 2.5 or higher, matriculating to a four-year college next year, have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services, extracurricular or other activities. K-TAL JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND: FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 311 CHARITIES

The purpose of the K-Tal Memorial Scholarship Fund is to financially assist worthy senior high school graduates who plan to graduate from an accredited post secondary four-year college, two-year college or vocational institution. It is designed to assist a senor who best be described as an average student of sound character, active in their school and community, and achieving up to his or her academic potential. It is intended for a graduating senior who would not otherwise be receiving academic, athletic, significant hardship, or other gifted skills scholarship awards. Recipients may not be blood relatives or related through marriage to current or retired members of the Madison Fire Department. Application available in the scholarship file.

ITALIAN-AMERICAN WOMEN’S CLUB (IAWC) 2008 SCHOLARSHIPS

Award: 3 at $1,000 and 1 at $500

Applicant must meet the following criteria: be a senior (male or female) in a Dane County high school; intend to enroll in a course of at least two years duration at a college, university or technical school as a full-time student; interested in Italian culture; need NOT be Italian to apply.

ITALIAN WORKMEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline: April 15, 2008

Award: 2 at $1,000 (1-male, 1-female)

Eligibility: Applicants must be a senior in a Dane County high school or the immediate family member (son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter or an IWC or IAWC member; intend to enroll as a full-time student in an institution of higher education (a course of at least two-year duration at a college, university or technical school which has as its objective the securing of a degree in advance of high school diploma); must be of Italian descent (defined as having one parent, grandparent or great-grandparent of Italian ancestry OR having an Italian surname). Criteria: scholastic ability (grades/class rank), need of student for financial aid, contributions to the school and/or community, personal references, bonus points for association of parents or other relatives with Italian Workmen’s Club or the Italian American Women’s Club. GE HEALTHCARE DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Deadline: April 1, 2008

Applicants must be African American, Native American, or Hispanic American; a public high school senior in Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin metropolitan areas; plan to major in engineering, finance or information technology as a full-time undergraduate at an accredited four-year college or university; must have a B or better GPA (3.0 on a 4.0 scale).

ST. STEPHEN’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH FOUNDATION, INC.

Award: $500 – For general undergraduate degrees and undergraduate degrees in agriculture, life sciences or medical fields. Guidelines: attending an accredited school; anyone may apply; financial need will not be a consideration, 3 personal references; personal interview may be required. WISCONSIN TOWNS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR 2008

Deadline: May 27, 2008

Award: 2 at $1,250; 2 at $1,000; 1 at $1,000

Applicants must complete and be judged on an essay contest as described in the program’s brochure (available in the scholarship file). All applicants must be graduating from a Wisconsin public or private high school in 2008 and plan to attend a Wisconsin based public or private college or vocational technical institute. SIGMA NU EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
