Trinity Guidelines for Youth Ministries Scholarships
Millbrook FUMC Guidelines for Student Ministries Scholarships
Millbrook First United Methodist Church offers several events throughout the year focusing on the development and discipleship of children and youth. Some of these events cost a significant amount of money. We would like for all of our students desiring to participate to be able to do so and want to make every effort to help them be involved. We never want a student to not attend an event because of financial difficulty. In addition to money from our ministry area budgets, we offset the cost of events by offering students fundraising opportunities. When a student or family still needs assistance, gracious and generous donations are made to scholarship students. All applications for scholarship will be kept confidential. However, we do ask that those who are capable of paying for events not apply, so that those who have a legitimate need can be assisted. We also encourage everyone, that if at some point you have the financial capability, be a generous cheerful giver, and donate to the scholarship fund.
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
• Scholarships should be requested only if a legitimate financial need exists.
• Scholarships will be considered on a “first come, first serve” basis.
• Scholarships will only be awarded to students that participate in event fundraisers and regularly attend MFUMC (i.e. Sunday school, worship services, small groups, etc.).
• The Youth and/or Children’s ministers will have final decision on awarding available scholarships.
• Scholarships are for the applicant only. If you have more than one student participating in an event, each student must have a separate application.
• Scholarships are for each event only. A separate application for each event for which you are requesting financial assistance must be submitted.
• Applications for scholarships are due four weeks prior to the event.
• Because scholarships are limited and are intended to assist students desiring to attend youth and children’s ministry events, if the student(s) awarded a scholarship do not attend the event, the total amount of the scholarship(s) awarded is expected to be paid back to MFUMC in full.
• Students receiving scholarship awards will be expected to write thank you letters to donors. Failure to appreciate donors will deny the student any future assistance.
