The Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation hosted the 2nd Annual Bids 4 Kids Ladies Night Out Fundraiser on April 10th at The Ridge Banquet Facility. This community event raised approximately $19,500 to support the mission of the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation - to promote student achievement and unity in our community and schools. The Foundation will use the proceeds to help fund classroom grant requests, recognize academic excellence through scholarships and ACHIEVE awards, offer reading and math intervention for elementary students, help families in need in our community through a donation to Womenade, and more.
The highlight of the evening was the silent auction featuring nearly 250 items. Event emcee, Kathy Burney, PE Teacher at Westridge Elementary, helped promote all the fabulous packages throughout the night. Many of the items were donated by local businesses and District families – including beautiful sterling silver pieces from Gunderson’s Fine Jewelers, overnight escapes in the Old Market and Midtown Crossing, and College World Series Tickets. High School Coaches, Athletic Directors, and T7 Fitness offered spots in all their youth summer camps; and Elkhorn Public Schools Principals provided “school experiences” such as VIP parking, lunches in the classroom, and Principal for a Day.
The ladies thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and desserts served at Bids 4 Kids by Gigi’s Cupcakes, Hy-Vee at 180th and Pacific, Popperista Gourmet Popcorn, and Sam & Louie’s New York Pizza, and they were thrilled to receive goody bags filled with special offers, youth camp opportunities, certificates for free goodies, and beauty samples. The Nothing Bundt Cakes and Darling Door Hanger Raffle was also a big hit!
“Proceeds from last year’s Bids 4 Kids helped us meet a Math Intervention need identified earlier this year. Much like Foundation-funded Reading Interventions, this new math program is now offered to students who need a little extra one-on-one help before or after school to master their math skills. This will help build confidence, improve grades and impact testing scores,” states Stacey L. Falk, Executive Director of the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation. She continues, “Bids 4 Kids is a great example of our remarkable community - generous local sponsors and donors, amazing committee volunteers, gracious school staff, and ladies from the community who attended the event – all coming together to make a difference in children’s lives.”
