-64481-55418200Student Equipment AgreementSubject to the terms of this Agreement, the District will allow Student to use a District-owned Chromebook or laptop computer (which, together with installed software, peripherals and attachments make up the “Equipment”) at Student’s home for purposes of participating in remote classes through the District’s learning management system as required by the District’s Emergency School Closing Education Plan.The District owns the Equipment and through this Agreement shall permit its use by all of the students listed below.Student agrees to read, comply, and accept the terms and conditions of the District’s Acceptable Use of Internet, Computers and Network Resources (AUP), and the AUP’s Administrative Regulations. The Student agrees to participate in all assigned remote classes through the UDSD Learning Management System as directed by the District’s Emergency School Closing Educational Plan and agrees that this is the sole purpose for which the District gives Student the use of this Equipment.Students and Student’s parents/guardians (collectively “Student’s family”) agree that they shall each and together be responsible for the security, care, custody, and control of the Equipment at all times. Lost/stolen or damaged Equipment must be reported to the Technology Department immediately. The telephone number for that Department is 610 789 7200 and the email address is rhilinski@ .Where Student claims theft of Equipment, Student shall also report the theft to the police or if the theft took place on school property, to the appropriate Assistant Principal who will report to the police. Student shall cooperate with the police in any subsequent investigation.The cost of Equipment stolen, damaged or lost through Student’s misuse, neglect or negligence shall be paid by Student and Student’s family, up to replacement cost for the stolen, damaged or lost Equipment. Where appropriate, Student or Student’s family may choose to file a claim with the family’s homeowners/renters insurance and pay only the applicable deductibles.Any Student who violates this Agreement or utilizes the Equipment for a purpose that violates the AUP or any other District policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including expulsion, where applicable.Users shall have no expectation of privacy when using UDSD resources and devices such as the Equipment, and the Equipment is subject to search upon a reasonable belief that evidence of a crime or violation of any District policy may be found there. Further, the Technology Department will monitor and enforce the AUP regarding the following:Applications and other software (“Apps”) installed on District owned devices are subject to review, and the Technology Department will remove any unauthorized Apps.Internet access on the Equipment will utilize District filtering software. Any attempt by Student to circumvent the District’s internet filters will be a violation of this Agreement and the District AUP.Authorized Apps on the Equipment are the property of or licensed to UDSD and shall not be transferred to personally owned devices under any circumstances.The District’s Technology Department shall be solely responsible for the installation of permitted Apps and the repair of damaged or malfunctioning Equipment. Student shall not install or permit the installation of unauthorized Apps on District owned devices or attempt to repair any damaged or malfunctioning Equipment.The District assumes no liability for the preservation of unauthorized Apps installed or data stored on the Equipment. If a device is lost or stolen, or if the District’s Technology Department finds unauthorized or modified Apps on the Equipment, the District may wipe/erase all data, Apps, and settings on the Equipment without regard for the loss of data.Upon the District’s demand for the return of the Equipment or at the point that Student is no longer enrolled in a District school, whichever is earlier, Student shall surrender the Equipment together with all peripherals and attachments to District technology department. If the Student fails to return all the Equipment, peripherals and attachments as required, the Student’s family agrees to pay the fair market value of the unreturned items.
