NOTICE OF JOB OPENING (2019-2020 School Year)

The Commerce ISD Police Department is an independent, fully-accredited law enforcement agency with the authority to enforce state and local laws. The Commerce ISD Police Department has an opening for a Police Officer/ High School Criminal Justice Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year to provide for the safety and security of district students and staff.

NOTE: TEA Educator certification not required for CTE (Career & Technology) classes.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: - Must hold a current Texas Peace Officer license issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) - Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or similar field preferred - Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills: - Knowledge of criminal investigations, police report writing, and criminal law - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Experience or strong ability to facilitate/instruct courses - Bondable as required by Texas Education Code ?37.081(h) - Strong public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience: - Minimum of two years in law enforcement preferred

- Previous experience in community policing programming preferred - Law enforcement media relations and speaking experience preferred - Experience in utilizing and managing social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) preferred
